Sleeping up to 8 guests, I Palamiti exudes traditional island charm with its white washed walls, cool tiled floors and flower-filled terraces facing the sea. The spacious split-level lounge and dining area awaits with cosy furnishings, a Smart TV and pretty doors opening to the terrace. The kitchen is brilliantly equipped with everything you should need whilst each of the four bedrooms (three doubles and one twin) features air-conditioning. There are also three brightly tiled bathrooms, two of which are en suite. Catch a glimpse of the sea from almost every corner of this delightful holiday home.
After a busy day exploring, it’s simply magical to sit out on the terrace with its pizza oven and barbecue, enjoying al-fresco meals on warm summer evenings accompanied by good wine, sea vistas and idyllic sunsets.
Walking down the hill, it’s not long until you reach the coast, then continue to the vibrant heart of Casamicciola Terme with its restaurants, shops, café-bars, little beach and ferry port (with departures to neighbouring island Procida). In the other direction, Parco Castiglione Resort & Spa and its highly regarded restaurant, is a short drive away.
Only 5km from Ischia Ponte and its incredible fortress, this is a great base for discovering the natural beauty, thermal spas and pretty villages of this volcanic island steeped in history, tradition and local charm.
On the island of Ischia, I Palamiti is located in the lively coastal spa town of Casamicciola Terme, a short walk from its restaurants, shops, café-bars and beach. To reach the island, take a ferry or hydrofoil to Ischia (3km) or Casamicciola Terme (1.1km) port – private car transfers from the port to the house can be arranged in advance.
On the northern shore of the island and close to Ischia town, Casamicciola Terme is a superb base for exploring both sides of the island. Cultural and natural excursions can be organised (with advance notice) or you may prefer to hire a car to be able to fully discover Ischia’s natural richness. Casamicciola Terme is home to two popular spas - Antiche Terme Belliazzi (1.6km) and Parco Termale Castiglione (1.2km) with its highly regarded Ristorante Guarrancino (book ahead).
Indeed, Ischia’s renowned thermal heritage is rooted in its volcanic origins, which have blessed the island with over a hundred natural hot springs and therapeutic muds. Since ancient times, these healing waters have attracted visitors seeking wellness and relaxation. Venture to the south-west of the island to experience Giardini Poseidon Terme (14km), the island’s largest thermal spa, or head a little further to Baia di Sorgeto (16.5km) where you can bathe in naturally heated seawater right by the coast.
Embrace the character of the island by visiting picture-perfect villages such as Sant’Angelo (17.5km), a fishing village on the southern coast with pastel houses and a pretty harbour lined with cafes. Nature enthusiasts will fall in love with Mount Epomeo, the highest point on the island, a paradise for hikers with the most stunning views of the island and sea – a much-loved walking route starts in Fontana (12km).
In Ischia town itself, find the time to tour the incredible historic fortress, Castello Aragonese, connected to the island via a stone bridge, followed by a wander through the oldest part of the island, Ischia Ponte. Soak up the old-world charm of the summer lidos at Spiaggia dei Pescatori and seek out wonderful restaurants serving island specialities from coniglio all’ischitana to hearty vegetables, good pasta and seafood.
