About this property

Villa Elario is one of the most exclusive villas on Italy's Amalfi Coast. Sleeping up to 24 guests in divine surroundings, the villa is the perfect choice for those travelling with a larger group for a trip you will remember for a lifetime.

This attractive home was built in the late 1700s by merchants who needed uninterrupted views of their ships setting off to sea. It is a historic villa constructed and decorated to the highest of standards and its stunning interiors, packed with hand painted frescoes, have been carefully maintained to this day. The four floors of the villa are filled with fine art, warm and inviting colours and antiques, creating a lovely environment.

The home offers eight spacious en-suite bedrooms to guests as well as two attic suites, which are a recent addition to the home and boast a more modern style. These suites have two bedrooms each and would suit small families within your group as you can have your children in the next room. All of the other bedrooms open out on to furnished terraces with amazing sea views, the ideal spot for sipping your morning coffee and enjoying a moment of tranquility before the day begins.

When you all wish to gather together over dinner or drinks in the evening, there are a number of expansive, beautifully furnished living rooms available as well as atmospheric covered dining terraces which are well-lit and heated at night. You could also choose to come together in the garden; an oasis filled with flowers and trees which is an escape from the bustling town below. The garden has three vast sea-view terraces, lawns, dining spaces and a private infinity pool where you can enjoy a refreshing dip.

Villa Elario is set just over a kilometre away from the centre of Positano which is one the Amalfi Coast’s best loved towns. The town is lined by world-class sandy beaches where you can relax on a shaded lounger at a seasonal beach club or swim in the clear sea. The closest beach to the villa, which is also the largest in the area is Spiaggia Grande, but there are quieter swimming coves available too if you would prefer a serene, natural cove.

The town of Positano has plenty for you to see and do as well as a huge array of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. As the town hails from the medieval era, the streets are littered with unique, historic buildings painted in pretty pastel tones. There are a number of churches, elegant villas and archaeological sites you can visit before settling down for dinner at one of the fantastic restaurants.

There are many more places you can visit from your base in Positano; Amalfi town is located 15km away, Sorrento is 17km away and the ruins of Pompeii can be reached by car at just 35km away.

Villa Elario sits in a picture-perfect location; nestled in the hillside above Positano on Italy's stunning Amalfi Coast. The spacious house looks down on the town and the azure sea below and as night falls you will be able to look out over breath-taking carpet of twinkling lights emanating from the town.
When visiting the Amalfi Coast, you will be surrounded by a wealth of sandy beaches where you can spend your days unwinding in the sun and sipping cocktails. There are plenty of beaches to choose from; the largest is Spiaggia Grande which is around 1km away and has fantastic views of the town above and is lined with exclusive beach clubs.

The coastline is dotted with many beaches you can visit to try out water sports, swim in the clear sea or take boat trips. If you are looking for a smaller, peaceful cove you could also try Fornillo Beach which is just over 1km away.
If you wish to head out for brunch one morning or would like to do some shopping, the nearest amenities can be found just a short walk from the villa, with a wider range available in the centre of Positano just over a kilometre away. Positano is one of the Amalfi Coast’s most iconic towns and is a wonderful place to have so nearby. As well as offering gorgeous beaches, it has a charming medieval centre which is filled with historic pastel-coloured buildings and shops. There are numerous attractions in town such as the brilliant Roman Archaeological Museum and the staggering Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta which is a 13th-century church with Byzantine religious art and domed roof.

Positano is also a delightful place to wander around and you can take in the sights as you stroll through the mostly pedestrianised streets. If you wish to take home some gifts then locally made sandals and Limoncello would be great choices and you can pick these up at small artisan shops. As the sun sets, Positano is packed with bars and restaurants you can visit, whether you are looking for a small trattoria, a Michelin-starred restaurant or a lively nightclub.
Other than Positano, the Amalfi Coast and the surrounding areas are littered with incredible places you can visit. Sorrento is one such town and is just 17km away by car. Sorrento is popular with visitors and as you wander the picturesque streets of the old town you will see why. In town you can pay a visit to the fascinating medieval flour mill and ancient churches or shop for souvenirs and antiques. There are also a number of museums and galleries here including The Correale Museum of Terranova which is set in a stunning historic villa. The museum is the place to go to learn more about the history of the area as the exhibits span from pre-history to the 19th-century.
Another unmissable attraction is the famous archaeological site of Pompeii which is 35km away. You can choose to drive over yourself or book on to a coach tour. Pompeii has been frozen in time since the volcanic eruption in 79AD meaning you can see the buildings, streets and even the people of Pompeii exactly how they were as Mount Vesuvius erupted.

Villa Elario is a beautiful stunning and extraordinary Villa / Hotel / and home. Incredible 400 year old Villa beautifully and tastefully restored so that you feel its history and soul but you get to experience all the modern features of a world class hotel. Beautiful surroundings, garden, pool and an incredibly wide huge deck to have sunset drinks or an incredible breakfast looking over the whole of Positano. The manager could not have been more helpful, attentive and relaxed. Highly recommend this world class property- you’ll feel the history of Italy in every room and the ambience of the Amalfi.

Was here with family and friends for my brothers wedding. The staff, G, the manager, the chef, so kind and gracious. They looked after you and met your every needs. The villa and our rooms cleaned daily. This place was a dream and the view, GORGEOUS! Did not want to leave.

I returned in October 22 from my sixth stay at Villa Elario, without doubt one of the most spectacular properties in Positano. Friends and I meet there every year - each year it's hard to leave - and I look forward to the next. It's like coming home week from the moment I land at the port! My luggage is handed off to the friendly porters and usually arrives to the villa before I do. Although taxi service and an intercity bus is available most of the way, I would never want to miss the magical walk up to the villa with its breathtaking view to the sea. Upon arrival, every detail is attended to by the lovely house manager, she and the staff makes sure our stay is perfect. Incredible meals prepared by a private chef (we toasted her every evening), ice cold prosecco and aperitivo by the pool, daily maid service, and relaxing on the vine covered veranda. Forever memories made each year at this dream property - can't wait for our next stay!
