If you are searching for a unique Italian holiday destination away from the usual tourist trails, why not try the island of Ponza? The beautiful island is the largest in the Pontine Islands archipelago and lies in the dazzling Tyrrhenian Sea. Residents of Rome and Naples love holidaying here as the island is easily reached by train and ferry from the cities. Ponza is an idyllic location where you can tuck into delicious local cuisine and unwind on amazing beaches.
This ancient, classical-style home has been renovated to offer a mix of traditional Italian décor and modern furnishings and amenities. The house is gorgeous, with high-quality furnishings and pops of colour from large rugs and artworks. Blue and white tones, plus plants and wall hangings, create a homely feeling and bring the colours of the sea and the vegetation outside into the home.
Laid over two floors, the accommodation here is plentiful, with six bedrooms and various indoor and outdoor living spaces. On the ground floor, you will enter a living room with sofas, armchairs, a Smart TV and a fireplace. Next door, the well-equipped kitchen, with its open-units and antique floor tiles, has everything you could need for preparing meals and snacks. You could book a private chef and service staff if you only fancy cooking some of the time. Meals can be taken indoors or just outside on the covered terrace.
The six bedrooms are spread over both floors; on the ground floor, there is a double bedroom and a bedroom with twin beds, both with en-suite bathrooms. Upstairs are four more bedrooms, all beautifully appointed and boasting en-suite bathrooms.
Outdoors, the large covered terrace is the perfect place for dining as there is a table seating 14 guests, surrounded by candles and twinkling lights in the evening and looking out over unspoilt sea views. Outside is a lawned space, sun loungers for relaxing, and an expansive sitting area with outdoor sofas.
To access Ponza’s main centre, Ponza town, you can stroll the 500m into the heart of town. You will find colourful buildings looking out towards the sea and restaurants around the bustling marina. There is plenty on your doorstep to keep you busy, including a selection of stunning beaches within walking distance.
Visit some of the neighbouring islands or take a day trip to the island’s largest beach Spiaggia del Frontone. You can even take a scenic boat ride around the island and gaze at Chiaia di Luna beach, which is breathtaking but closed to visitors due to rocks falling from the imposing cliffs, so it is best viewed from a boat!
Ponza is one of the six Pontine islands which lie off the coast of Lazio in Italy. As the largest of the group of islands, Ponza is a beautiful choice for your summer escape as there is lots to see and do here, though the island is much smaller than the mainland and other islands such as Capri. Villa Chiaia di Luna is just 500m away from pristine beaches, shops, restaurants and the island’s main port, so you could not wish for a better setting!
The home looks out over the glistening blue sea, which you can easily reach from the home as several beaches are just a stone’s throw away. The closest beaches are Spiaggia Giancos and Spiaggia San Antonio, just a stroll away. Both of these beaches are pretty coves, ideal spots for relaxing in the sun, with easy access to the town centre. As it does not take long to drive around the entire island, you can also drive to some of the best-loved beaches, such as Cala Feola, which is 7km away and best reached by car or taxi. This sandy beach is a hidden gem and has a gorgeous restaurant called La Marina, where you can have dinner at the end of your day at the beach. Make sure to try the unique cactus parmigiana! Visitors should know that Cala Feola Beach is located down a set of steps. For those who love to swim in the sea but dislike the sand, why not go for a refreshing dip at the nearby Piscine Naturali, which are natural pools carved into the rock and filled with sea water.
Ponza is not only for beach lovers, as outdoorsy visitors can access many sporting activities and walks close to the villa. Kayaking, water sports, boat hire, hiking, mountain biking and snorkelling can all be found within 1km of Villa Chiaia di Luna.
In addition to the natural beauty spots, Ponza has some lovely towns and villages to discover. The main town on the island is Ponza town, known locally as Porto due to the port here. This town is just a few minutes away from the house on foot and is filled with shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Though the island is relatively small, the town does come to life in the evenings in the warmer months, and whether you are looking for a restaurant or a trendy bar, there is something for everyone. The town also has a rich history, with settlements dating back to prehistoric times. You can see Roman ruins, ancient churches and a range of museums here, such as the ethnographic museum. Ponza town is also home to the island’s main port, where you can take ferries to the mainland or embark on a boat trip to the neighbouring islands, to Anzio on the mainland or around Ponza and into several enchanting caves.
If you would like to visit a village and see how the locals live, spend an afternoon in beautiful Le Forna, a mere 6km away by car.
** Please note the property is actually located on the island of Ponza. The best way to arrive to Ponza is via regular trains and ferries from Rome or Naples. **

Villa Chiaia di Luna is the most beautiful, comfortable and convenient place to stay in Ponza. Amazing views and access to the town, beach and rest of the island. The owner recommended the best boat rentals and helped with our dinner reservations, which was very helpful since we do not speak Italian. Each bedroom was comfortable with an ensuite bathroom. We loved our stay in Ponza and hope to return someday. Thank you so much for the great hospitality!

Villa Chiaia Di Luna is amazingly furnished and it has a breathtaking view. Walking distance to the village center it’s still quiet and private.
