Casa Lawrence is in an enviable location overlooking the beautiful Lake Garda and the surrounding mountains. Nestled within the lush greenery of the Alto Garda Bresciano Park, with the village of Gargnano just 2km away, it is hard to think of a better place to stay for your holiday in the North of Italy.
The villa is a light, airy family home with plenty of space to gather in the open-plan communal areas. The home retains aspects of its stylish 70s décor while offering all of the modern facilities you could need, such as Wi-Fi and air conditioning in the bedrooms.
On the ground floor of the villa, there is a vast living space with comfortable sofas around a fireplace for the winter months. If you wish to dine indoors, you can also find a long dining table within this room and a pool table for a round of pool after dinner. The large windows and French doors open onto the garden, where you can enjoy incredible lake views.
When you wish to retire for the evening, you can choose between six bedrooms. Two of these rooms can be found on the ground floor, while the remaining four are located on the first floor. One of the bedrooms has two single beds and is best suited to children.
Heading outdoors, you will find yourself in a large, well-maintained garden with lawns, dining terraces and fragrant plants dotted around. The garden is a great spot to enjoy dinner al-fresco or for lazy days by the private pool, all while taking in the fantastic views of Lake Garda.
When you wish to eat out, you can walk or drive the 2km to Gargnano, which is the closest village. This striking village is packed with art, history and cultural attractions and is a great place to have so close. The village has been inhabited for over 1000 years and is one of the most picturesque on the lake. As you wander around, you will see many pretty churches, such as the spectacular San Francesco church built in 1221. The village is also known for the lemons grown here, and if you would like to learn more, then take a guided tour of the picturesque lemon farms. As well as historic sites, there are also shops and eateries in the village; make sure to try the local seafood, lemon dishes and capers! If you are visiting in September, you may be lucky enough to catch some of the Centomiglia International Regatta, which departs from the village and is a world-famous sailing competition.
If you would like an action-packed day out, you are perfectly placed for a day of hiking or cycling through the nearby mountains and parkland. Thrill seekers would also love paragliding and water sports, which are only a few kilometres away. If this all sounds a bit too tiring, then book on to a boat tour such as the half-day tour of the middle lake which departs from Gargnano.
If you fancy a day away from the lake, drive to Verona, which is 80km away. Verona is best known for its Shakespearean attractions, such as Juliet’s balcony and incredible shows at the open-air theatre.
Casa Lawrence is a wonderful base for exploring Lake Garda and making the most of the gorgeous natural surroundings. The home is located within the Alto Garda Bresciano Park, a protected area with hiking and cycling routes and lots of local wildlife, including wild boars, deer and eagles. The park extends from the lake's crystal-clear waters to the mountains' peaks. To see the area from a different viewpoint, paraglide over the lake or participate in an organised horse trek.
The lake is surrounded by lots of villages and towns that you can explore by driving or boat ride. The closest supermarket is a short drive away and the closest town is Gargnano, which is surrounded by lemon farms just 2km away. In the town, there are several places you can eat and drink, as well as attractions such as the 13th-century San Francesco church and the lovely gardens of Villa Bettoni, which are perfect for a picnic. You could also head inland to see the smaller Lake Valvestino, a great hiking spot.
Near Gargnano, you can also discover well-kept beaches with calm, clean water where you can either unwind or take part in water sports. If you would like to see more of the lake from the water, you can depart from the village on a boat tour of the middle lake, which takes in other towns such as Fasano and Gardone Riviera, these trips take around 4 hours and are a relaxing family excursion.
14km from the villa is the elegant town of Gardone Riviera which is a lovely place to visit for the afternoon; here, you can find boutique shopping, great restaurants, and a tree-lined promenade where you can watch the world go by. Many visitors also flock to the town to visit Vittoriale degli Italiani, the beautiful home of poet Gabriele d’Annunzio. This vast historic site spans over 9 hectares and includes the house, which can be visited with a tour group. There are also stunning gardens, a mausoleum built for local war heroes, three museums, an expansive park filled with lemon groves, and even a full-sized Italian naval ship! Set aside at least half a day to explore this enchanting place.
For a memorable day out, drive to Sirmione, which is 47km away from the villa and one of the Lake’s best-loved locations. Sirmione was initially a stone age settlement and was later taken over by the Romans. One of the best attractions is the amazing Scaligeri Castle, a unique port castle. The town is also known for the Grotto of Catullus, a Roman villa with its naturally occurring thermal spas.

The villa was magnificent, fantastically set out and absolutely ideal for a group of friends. We marvelled everyday at the setting, views and facilities. It is a bit of a walk ta and from town so be prepared for that if you want to visit the local restaurants.

Great villa in a great location. Went there for a week with the kids and had a great time. Thanks to the 6 bedrooms, the villa is also great for traveling with friends.

A beautiful villa with stunning views over Lake Garda. The swimming pool was clean and warm - lovely to swim in. The communal area an the ground floor was spacious, light and relaxing and the pool table much used! Gargagno itself was a delightful village/town, 20 minutes walk away, with lots of good restaurants and a great jumping off point far other sites of interest on the Lake. Communication from the hosts was efficient and helpful. One minor downside - the kitchen was tiny for the size of the villa, and for a family who love cooking while an holiday this was a disadvantage, though far others may be less so. Despite the above, we had an amazing week there and would have loved to stay longer.
