About this property

Villa Lilliana sits on the South-Western shore of Lake Como, offering panoramic views over the lake and the mountains which frame it beautifully. Sleeping up to ten guests, this contemporary home would be a fantastic place to stay with extended family or a large group of friends on a special trip.

The modern, spacious villa is spread over two floors and can be accessed by stairs or by utilising a lift which can take you from the triple garage below the home and up to each floor. The lift, ground floor bedrooms and wide-open garden space makes this home ideal for those with mobility issues or elderly relatives.

On the ground floor, which is lined with floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors onto the garden, you will find a vast, open-plan living space. With comfy sofas, armchairs and a large dining table, this space is the heart of the home where your party can gather together for drinks prepared at the bar area. Adjoining the living area there is a fully-fitted kitchen which has all of the appliances you could need, whether you are making your morning coffee or a sumptuous evening meal.

When you wish to get a good night’s sleep, there are five bedrooms to choose from, each with comfortable beds and crisp linens. Two of the bedrooms are set on the ground floor and one of these has an en-suite bathroom. The three upstairs bedrooms all boast en-suite bathrooms, with one room offering a bathtub which is perfect for a long soak after a busy day exploring. From the upstairs rooms, you can head out onto the long terrace to soak in the staggering views of the lake and if you wish to create some shade on a sunny day, wooden shutters can come down over this space.

Outdoors the home has a fabulous garden which overlooks the lake. It is a lovely place to enjoy dining al-fresco, swimming in the private pool and reading your favourite book in the smaller hidden courtyard.

When you wish to go grocery shopping or enjoy breakfast at a lake-side café, you can simply head into the village of Laglio which is 2km away and has a charming centre. Lake Como is surrounded by many picture-perfect towns and villages which you can reach by car or by boat. Como City is just 15km away by car and is a brilliant place to visit, packed with museums, galleries and historic attractions.

If you would prefer to see more of the lake by ferry, you can embark on boat trips to the gorgeous villages of Bellagio and Menaggio by taking a ferry from Cadenabbia which is 16km away. You can opt to visit just one village in a day or take part in a full-day trip where the ferry will stop off at a number of locations, these trips usually include lunch and are led by knowledgeable local guides.

Villa Lilliana sits in a delightful spot overlooking Italy’s Lake Como. Just metres from the shore at the centre of the lake, this is a fantastic base for exploring the many villages, towns and scenic walking routes around the lake. You are also perfectly placed for visiting some of Lake Como’s beaches, such as Moltrasio beach which is 5km away.

The home is situated close to the village of Laglio which is just 2km away. The stunning village has a long history and was once a Roman settlement. Today you can still see a Roman tower and many ancient architectural details as you wander around the streets through to the tiny, atmospheric hamlet of Soldino. Laglio and adjoining Soldino are lovely places to pass the day strolling around the winding streets and paying visits to the church of San Giorgio and a unique burial site known as Frank’s pyramid.

Those who enjoy treks through forests and mountainous landscapes can access some breathtaking trails from here and also hike up to a local attraction called Bear’s Cave. The cave is filled with natural formations such as stalactites and fossils as well as the historic bones of bears and other animals which have been well-preserved. Laglio also has a great selection of cafes and restaurants, many offering unrivalled views of the dazzling lake.

There are many more villages and towns you can visit for the afternoon close by, another option is Cernobbio which is 9km away. This picturesque place has a vast lake-side promenade with lots of shaded benches to sit at and enjoy the views. The town is filled with colourful buildings including a Baroque church and a pretty clocktower as well as elegant villas such as the grand Villa d’Este which is best viewed by hiring a little boat and taking it out to explore the shoreline. A serene picnic spot is the recently created Giardino della Valle gardens.

If you would like to explore a lively city, Como is just 15km away. This is a wonderful place to go to soak in some of the art and culture of the region in the many museums and galleries. There are also plenty of historic buildings and attractions you can visit including the beautiful cathedral, the hilltop lighthouse, and the Neoclassical Villa Olmo. To see more of the surrounding mountains and amazing lake views, take a funicular ride up to Brunate village. Back in Como you can explore boutique shops and tuck into regional dishes which have a Swiss influence due to the proximity to the Swiss border.

A brilliant way to see more of the lake and its villages is to take a ferry ride which is much quicker and more relaxing than driving. If you would like to take a ferry to some of the other towns and villages around the lake, a great place to depart from is Cadenabbia which is a village 16km away from the house. From here you can set sail to some of the best-loved villages on the lake such as Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio.
