About this property

Villa Tremezzo is a stunning neoclassical mansion on Lake Como's shores, built in the 1500s, offering luxurious accommodations for up to 12 guests. With Tiepolo-style frescoes, marbled floors, and exquisite grounds, this villa embodies Italian elegance.

Guests arrive through ornate wrought-iron gates, down a sweeping drive lined with cypress and chestnut trees, and are greeted by the villa's symmetrical design, formal garden, and tiered façade. Inside, the central lobby features frescoes depicting Virgil's Aeneid, while a dream-like drawing room and romantic dining room with a Murano chandelier await. The villa comes with a housekeeper, chamber maid, butler, and private chef to prepare meals served in the dining room or al fresco.

A grand staircase leads to the second floor, where three parlour rooms offer panoramic views of Lake Como and Bellagio, perfect for celebrations and quality time. Six opulent suites with lavish décor and ensuite bathrooms provide a serene escape. The bedrooms combine historical sophistication with modern luxury, featuring dark-wood furniture, velvet headboards, and gilt-framed mirrors.

The villa's landscaped gardens create a peaceful retreat, with an outdoor terrace ideal for dining or enjoying sunsets over the lake. A swimming pool, surrounded by sunbeds and gardens, adds to the villa's allure.

Villa Tremezzo is not just a residence; it's an immersive experience, offering guests an unforgettable stay filled with history, elegance, and the beauty of Lake Como.

Granted, after Villa Tremezzo takes your breath away you might need some time to relax before you head back out to explore Lake Como. What is more, few places in Italy are more synonymous with the art of dolce far niete (the sweetness of doing nothing), so if you’d rather stay within the sumptuous grounds of the villa you can hardly be blamed.

Nevertheless, Villa Tremezzo is extraordinarily situated on the shores of Lake Como, a short drive from the nearby villages of Lenno and Menaggio, and just a short stroll from the lovely village of Tremezzina.

Movie fans will be giddy to see some of the neighbours, including Villa Balbianello where scenes from Star Wars: Episode II and Casino Royale were filmed. You may not see the Clooneys (whose villa in Lagio isn’t open to the public), but you’re sure to experience why the rich and famous are still drawn to this piece of paradise. Lake Como has been a sanctuary for aristocrats and the idle rich since Roman times, and a boasts many artistic and cultural gems. Perhaps the best way to see the lake and its glamorous surrounds is by boat. The villa’s personal butler is happy to organise private trips to tour the lake or pop across to nearby Bellagio. Saunter down the Francesco Bernardini Ferrari designed sycamore-shaded steps to the villa’s private mooring to take a trip out on the lake.

And when it comes to history, the villa itself possesses a decent portion of it! Indeed, the upper floor of the villa is preserved as a museum, boasting a rare collection of Stradivarius violins and some belongings of Napoleon Bonaparte, including a hat and a bed in which the 19th century emperor and Josephine slept. Access to the museum can be made available to guests on request.
