Villa Urban is a refurbished, barn-style home in Northern Italy in the beautiful region of Piedmont. The house is the perfect escape where you can unwind, surrounded by fields, peach trees and vineyards.
Under the guidance of a team of architects, builders and engineers, the owners of Villa Urban have transformed a large barn into this beautiful family home. Great care has been taken to preserve the original building and its exposed brickwork while bringing it to life by adding high-quality furnishings, pretty, decorative details and all the modern facilities you would need for a relaxing break.
The house is set over two floors; on the ground floor, you will enter an open-plan space where the living room winds around into the kitchen and dining area. When it is time for dinner, the well-equipped kitchen has all the appliances and crockery you will require to cook delicious meals and snacks for your group. You could dine indoors at the dining table or utilise the outdoor terrace.
The three bedrooms are upstairs; each bedroom is warm and welcoming and has a contemporary en-suite bathroom. There are two double bedrooms here and a room with two twin beds.
Outdoors, the home is enclosed by landscaped gardens where you can take in the sights and sounds of the countryside and lounge in the sun. You can fire up the barbecue in the garden and enjoy dinner al fresco on the covered pergola. If you need to cool down, there is an inviting private pool where you can swim and take in the views of the rolling farmland.
Piedmont is the ideal location for nature lovers as you have plenty of walking routes and UNESCO-protected land on your doorstep. The area has many outdoor activities and attractions, such as horse riding, tennis and guided walking tours. There are even a few unique activities, such as a truffle hunting walk with a local tour guide and a beekeeping course!
When you want to do a spot of shopping or would like to look around a museum or art gallery, there are several towns and cities you can choose from for a day out. The nearest selection of amenities, cultural attractions and historic sites can be found in Moncalvo, just 6km away and known as Italy’s smallest city. Asti has a wider range of shops, markets and eateries and is the place to go if you are a wine lover.
If you don’t mind driving a little further, you could set off early and spend the day getting to know the incredible city of Turin, which is 76km away or pay a visit to the coast, which is around 120km away.
With the Asti wine region and the beautiful rolling hills of Piedmont on your doorstep, Villa Urban is the perfect setting for those wishing to visit a gorgeous region of Italy that is off the beaten track and offers delicious local cuisine. The area has recently acquired unesco World Heritage status.
The home is enveloped by verdant countryside where you can head out on scenic walks through peach trees and vineyards. You can follow many routes on hikes or bike rides near the home, whether you prefer a short walk or a lengthy hike. Just a short distance from home, you can also find the village of Alfiano Natta. Though this is a small place, you can discover a selection of bars here, as well as ancient churches, wineries and the Castello di Razzano. This castle is a fantastic place to spend the day; the ornate building lies within Italian gardens, and the estate spans over 100 hectares. Castello di Razzano has long been used for wine production, and today, visitors can explore the wine cellars and participate in wine tastings in this stunning setting. In the cellars of the building, there is also a fantastic museum with exhibitions on wine production and art.
Piedmont is home to many idyllic villages, towns and bustling cities, which you can explore. One quaint and interesting place you could visit is Moncalvo, which is 8km away. Here, you can find the nearest amenities. Moncalvo is a lovely place famous for being Italy’s smallest city. Despite its small size, the city has historic attractions, medieval streets, and squares. The city has a rich history, and over the centuries, it was owned by Marquises and Dukes, who have left behind palaces and artistic treasures. While here, you can visit some palaces such as the 15th-century Palace of the Marquises of Monferrato, Palazzo Testafochi and the Casa Lanfrancone. In the city centre, there is also a former Jewish ghetto with a grand synagogue which looks out over the main square.
Additionally, you will find museums here, like the brilliant Civic Museum, plus a selection of historic churches. Dotted around the picturesque streets are an array of shops, cafes and restaurants. Moncalvo is a great place to dine out and try regional delicacies like local truffles.
A little further afield is the must-visit town of Asti, which is known for its wine-making. The town is 17km away and offers many historic sites, shops, markets and eateries. For a wider selection of shops and restaurants, plus bustling streets filled with museums and galleries, you should visit Turin, which is 76km away.

The owner Sara is a top host! Everything was perfect and even the small but so important details in the flat were all right. The cleanliness is excellent - there was really nothing to complain about. Sara was open to all our wishes and looked for solutions.

The kitchen and lounge are huge with the kitchen fully stocked for cooking pleasure. The bed is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on. The surrounding countryside is spectacular, the views you can enjoy from the terrace or lying by the pool in the afternoon sun. Sara and Mark are wonderful hosts who are on hand to help with any queries you may have. Do not hesitate to book!

What an absolutely fantastic week we had and what a place we were allowed to rent from the best hosts. Lovely to be greeted by fresh flowers on the table, the kitchen full of lots of goodies, freshly made bed and the towels nicely folded and as if that's not enough a cake and bubbly in the fridge as we actually celebrate our birthday this year. That as a landlord you know the value in the small details - yes I just love it! The surroundings, the views, the calm, the pool hanging with the crickets singing, the late nights out on the terrace, the morning coffee on the stairs and delicious cooking in the cool kitchen - what a pleasure. Our visit here puts a golden edge on every minute.
