Casa Pietrosa invites you experience the natural beauty of the Monferrato hills from a stylish setting, offering the perfect launchpad to explore the fine food, world-renowned wine and rich cultural heritage of northern Italy’s Piedmont region.
Across two levels, this beautiful stone house sleeps 6-7 guests across its three pretty bedrooms. An open-plan living and dining space features a modern kitchen and doors opening to the lower garden terrace for al-fresco dining beside the barbecue. There are two doubles and a third bedroom with a bunk-bed (and single bed for a seventh guest) alongside two modern bathrooms with showers. The interiors are chic and attractive with charming touches such as exposed stonework and pretty shutters.
The rural views are glorious – imagine relaxing beside the swimming pool, built partly above the ground, soaking up the scenery all around you. With sloping lawns and different levels, the open grounds offer so much space – the little table with deckchairs or the upper terrace are both idyllic spots for a glass of local wine.
A small village awaits just a 5-minute drive away – climb the medieval tower for panoramic views! You are also close to the elegant spa town of Acqui Terme, just 12km by car, with its geothermal springs, lovely shops, twice-weekly market and excellent restaurants.
Follow wine trails near the vibrant food and wine hub of Ovada, spend the day soaking up the historic grandeur of Asti or pick up white truffles in Alba, just over an hour away. You could even venture to the Ligurian coast, from Savona to Genoa, or simply savour the beauty of the UNESCO-listed Piedmont vineyards in this captivating corner of northern Italy.
Casa Pietrosa is located in the Monferrato hills only 12km from the spa town of Acqui Terme. Just off a small country road, surrounded by rolling fields, farmland and woodland, this is a picturesque setting for experiencing the natural beauty, fine wine and gastronomy of the Piedmont region of northern Italy.
Castelletto d'Erro is the nearest village, around 3km by car, with its medieval tower – climb the old wooden stairs and be rewarded with beautiful views. You will find a small handful of traditional restaurants dotted across local villages within a 10 to 15-minute drive and in the larger village of Bistagno (8km). Across this area, discover long walks, old churches and farms producing delicious local produce.
Acqui Terme (12km) is home to useful amenities including supermarkets and a train station. The historic centre is so elegant – the spa town dates back to Roman times and is famous for its geothermal springs at La Bollente. It’s a wonderful place to enjoy a morning coffee on a café terrace, pick up regional produce at the twice-weekly market and dine out in excellent restaurants serving authentic Piedmontese cuisine accompanied by some of the finest wines in Italy. The 11th century Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta is another highlight of this handsome town.
Here you are surrounded by the wine-growing Piedmont region with its unesco World Heritage listed landscapes. Part of the province of Alessandria, discover wine routes and food trails of the Gran Monferrato wine region. A visit to Ovada (28km) is a must for food and wine enthusiasts – the vibrant town boasts several restaurants showcasing regional dishes paired with excellent local wines (Ovada is famed for its Dolcetto di Ovada DOC red wine). The cuisine in Ovada blends culinary traditions from both Piedmont and Liguria.
Gastronomes won’t want to miss a day trip to Alba (64km), so loved for its white truffles, hazelnuts and chocolate, or soak up the historic grandeur of Asti (48km) and Alessandria (46km), both superb days out. You could even venture as far as the Ligurian coast whether following the winding roads south to Savona (56km) or driving around 90 minutes to the stunning city of Genoa (80km).
