A charming villa for eight people, Villa Rafaelina, occupies an exclusive plot in the beautiful Aroeira Golf Resort, just two kilometres from the beach. Surrounded by the picturesque greenery of the resort, the villa’s private pool and garden are also quite beautiful.

Your outside space includes a large, lawned garden that wraps around Villa Rafaelina’s impressive white-washed exterior. Your generous private pool is the centre-piece, and where you’ll undoubtedly spend most of your afternoons.

Relax and have a snooze on a sun lounger, while the family splash and swim. If the heat proves too much, retire to the shade of a palm tree with a refreshing drink, take a plunge in the pool or cool off in your outdoor shower.

For those wanting to embrace the Mediterranean lifestyle, this is the place for you. The table and chairs just next to the covered terrace are perfect for a leisurely breakfast, but then you need to venture to the end of the tree-lined garden for dinner.

Your straw-covered pavilion, complete with dining table and chairs is a truly romantic setting. Dine here alfresco, as the sun goes down and create enough beautiful memories to last you through the winter. Bliss!

Move indoors and be blown-away by Villa Rafaelina’s ample space. Light floods into the large living room through glazed patio doors leading to the garden. This beautiful space connects to the dining room, which leads into the lovely kitchen. Cooking will be a pleasure in this beautifully appointed room, featuring a curved wall with several windows looking out onto the garden.

A single sofa bed is located on the ground floor, and the second single sofa bed is found on the mezzanine. All three double en-suite bedrooms are on the first floor. Tastefully decorated with dark wood floors and crisp white lined, they are all very spacious. Two have en-suite showers, and the master suite features a jacuzzi bath.

Everything you could wish for on your Portuguese escape is within easy reach of Villa Rafaelina. Aroeira’s golf courses, tennis courts, spa, playground and shopping centre are all available to Villa Rafaelina’s lucky guests. It’s just two kilometres to your nearest beach or twenty-five kilometres to the city of Lisbon.

Aroeira Resort is three hundred and fifty hectares of scenic pine forest and parkland, dotted with lakes. This beautiful corner of Lisbon’s coastline is where you’ll find Villa Rafaelina.

Amenities available to guests include two eighteen-hole championship golf course, four tennis courts, a spa and communal tropical swimming pool, bars, restaurants (some offering takeaway!), children’s playground and a shopping centre. Wow!

Make the most your immediate surroundings by exploring the cycling and walking routes throughout the grounds of the resort. Bicycles and even horse-riding sessions can be booked on-site.

Praia da Fonte da Telha is just two kilometres away and is one of Portugal’s most beautiful beaches. It’s a long stretch of golden sand, backed by protected fossil cliffs and an esplanade lined with beach bars, restaurants, shops and surfing schools.

The fascinating city of Lisbon will fill at least one day’s sightseeing. There are dozens of famous museums, galleries, monasteries and churches to satisfy the keenest of cultural appetites. You also have family-friendly attractions, open-top bus tours, beautiful shopping plazas and countless restaurants along smart boulevards or Praco do Comercio’s waterfront.

Another day trip is the town of Setubal. About forty minutes in the car, as well as being a busy, commercial fishing port, it is also the centre of one of Portugal’s leading wine regions. The newly developed waterfront is ideal for a promenade, while the cobbled streets of the old quarter may offer up the perfect restaurant for lunch.

Wine tasting and winery tours of the Moscatel vineyards can be booked from the town centre. Prepare your pallet though – locally produced wines are fortified, sweet or port-like but enjoy worldwide renown.

If you’re tempted to buy a bottle, enjoy a glass after one of your al fresco dinners back at Villa Rafaelina, as the sun goes down on another lovely day.
