Meanwhile, the pretty town of Olimje is a charming place to visit for a glimpse into the relaxed pace of life this wonderful region offers. Wander the beautiful streets before stopping off to try some of the mouthwatering delicacies created at the town’s boutique chocolate factory, which leaves Olimje smelling good enough to eat! You can also play a round of golf at a local hotel, before visiting the town’s craft brewery to sample some Slovenian beers over a leisurely lunch in the afternoon sunshine.

Spend a sunny afternoon strolling along the verdant banks of the River Sotla or hop in the car to visit Kozjankso Regional Park, only a twenty-five minute drive away. This protected park is home to vast stretches of meadows and orchards, as well as rare bird species and the imposing Podsreda Castle. The lovely Kozjansko Apple Festival takes place every year in October and celebrates the region’s close connection with its land.

For a day trip slightly further afield, drive for an hour and a half to reach Slovenia’s fairytale capital city. Wander the cobbled streets of Ljubljana’s Old Town and stop for a coffee before soaking up the atmosphere at one of the city’s outdoor markets.
