Nestled in the tranquil village of Betis, Casa Cueva Mediana offers a serene escape surrounded by the beauty of nature. Enclosed by lush greenery and a wild agrarian landscape, this secluded retreat is a hidden gem where peace and quiet reign supreme. Despite its tucked-away setting, you're still less than ten minutes from the breathtaking coastline of Tarifa, allowing you to enjoy the best of both worlds—utter relaxation and the allure of the sea.
Part of "The Cave," an exclusive retreat made up of three separate villas, Casa Cueva Mediana is designed with privacy and comfort in mind. It has its own private entrance and a secluded outdoor area, creating the perfect setting for an intimate getaway. The villa’s single-level layout flows seamlessly, with rooms that feel as though they’ve been carved from the earth, exuding a harmonious blend of rustic charm and modern simplicity. With softly rendered walls and a classic terracotta roof, the minimalist interior invites you in with its soothing neutral tones and carefully selected natural furnishings. Each room is bathed in natural light, with windows that frame spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.
The heart of the villa is the open-plan living area, where an L-shaped sofa invites you to sink in and unwind. One side of the sofa is angled toward a flat-screen TV, while the other faces a picture-perfect window view of rolling fields, offering a serene backdrop for lazy afternoons. Whether you're curling up with a book or simply soaking in the quiet beauty of the landscape, this is a space designed for pure relaxation.
Off the central living area, you’ll find two peaceful bedrooms, each tastefully furnished with luxurious king-sized beds, soft linens, and gentle, ambient lighting that creates a romantic, calming atmosphere. Both rooms are equipped with air conditioning to keep you cool on warm summer nights and feature stylish ensuite bathrooms—one with a deep bathtub and shower, and the other with a sleek walk-in shower.
To make the most of the Mediterranean climate, the kitchen is set on a covered terrace, blending indoor and outdoor living. Fully equipped with modern appliances, it’s perfect for preparing meals to enjoy in the shaded outdoor dining area. Comfortable sofas and armchairs surround the space, creating an inviting spot to sip a glass of wine in the evening or enjoy a lazy afternoon in the cool shade.
Step outside, and you'll find a private oasis that invites you to unwind. The enclosed garden, framed by palm and olive trees, is a peaceful haven with a lush lawn leading to a charming yurt—ideal for a moment of shade or a peaceful yoga session. Tucked in one corner is a beautifully crafted dark wood sauna, while to the other side, the sparkling outdoor pool awaits, offering a refreshing dip beneath the warm Spanish sun. Surrounded by timber decking and plush sun loungers, this is the perfect spot to bask in the sun or relax under the shade of an umbrella.
Next door to the property, but still separate and private, are the sister villas, Casa Cueva Lujo and Casa Cueva Pequena. All three of these properties contain a different amount of bedrooms and can be booked independently or together - enquire today for more information!
Tucked in the peaceful foothills of Betis, the villa enjoys a rural setting whilst being just twenty minutes from the historic town and golden beaches of Tarifa, making it the ideal spot to explore the wonderful surrounding region.
The coast is easily accessible, with the glorious sands of Valdevaqueros just eight minutes by car. Backing onto rugged dunes, the beach extends to almost five kilometres, making it perfect for long walks, whilst the region's unique wind conditions offer a haven for wind and kite-surfers. Take a lesson from one of the many surf schools or look on from the beach and admire the numerous colourful sails racing across the water. With fine white sand and clear waters, the surrounding coastline is a delight to explore. Head just a few kilometres west to find the beautiful beach and town of Bolonia. Sat on the limits of the Parque Natural del Estrecho, the stretch of sand hugs the coast before rising to form the mighty Duna de Bolonia. Reaching 30m tall, the substantial dune is a marvel to behold as it constantly changes shape, morphing its form under the winds shifting direction.
A circular walk from Bolonia to Playa Canuelo is a great way to take in this unique setting from all perspectives. The route takes you west past the ruins of Baelo Claudia, a historic Roman town and an important archaeological discovery. Passing a number of Old Roman quarries, the walk leads through a pine forest to the Camarinal Lighthouse, where you can enjoy magnificent views down to the neighbouring beaches where you can stop off for a swim or circle back and return to Bolonia for a well-earned lunch or beer. The small town has a handful of restaurants to enjoy, such as Restaurant Otero Bolonia, with a simple fish-orientated menu where you can sample the catch of the day whilst looking out to sea.
The main town of Tarifa is a short drive from the villa and a must-see! An important geographic point for both military and trade, the charming town is a network of narrow streets with traditional whitewashed houses tucked between an assortment of architectural styles. Wander the cobbled alleys of the Old Town, passing beneath Puerta de Jerez, the only medieval gateway still standing, or visit the imposing Castillo de Guzman dating back to the 10th century. Numerous cafes and restaurants line the port, inviting you to rest in the shade and enjoy a bite to eat or a cold drink whilst taking in the daily activity. For a lively evening, Bar el Frances has a great ambience. Positioned on a street corner in the Old Town, there is pavement seating and a changing chalkboard menu offering up an array of traditional tapas plates and local dishes. A great way to spend a balmy evening and mix with both locals and tourists alike.
