About this property

If you are looking for a modern, spacious villa with gorgeous outside space, then Alcudia Sol, is an excellent choice. It is a delightful, beautifully finished, semi-detached villa, nestled just minutes from the sea in the unspoiled coastal village of Barcares. Barcares is a tranquil neighbourhood of Alcudia, popular with tourists and locals who enjoy quiet beaches and rocky coves. Boasting four spacious bedrooms, delightful, contemporary living space and an excellent pool and terrace, Alcudia Sol is ideal for a family of eight. If you are taking a holiday with another family or friends, we also feature the next door, four bedroom property, Barcares Mari. In total, the two villas sleep up to sixteen guests. You could enjoy the best of both worlds, a little private time as well as fabulous beach days, sightseeing tours and evenings spent all together.

Barcares enjoys a romantic harbour, a small beach and amazing views of Cap Formentor and the tiny offshore island. The captivating Alcudia Town is just fifteen to twenty minutes walk from the villa. You can also walk to the stunning Manresa and Mal Pas beaches or take a very short drive. Alcudia boasts 30 kilometres of stunning, sun-drenched coastline offering tranquility, relaxation, watersports, crystal clear water and plenty of glistening white sand. You will discover a huge array of watersports available including scuba diving, sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, snorkeling, paddle surfing, kite surfing, inflatable rides and fishing. Just 1.5 km from the villa, Alcudia Old Town is blessed with charming, narrow cobbled streets, small squares, attractive ancient buildings and a strong artisan tradition. The town hosts many cultural events and is a brilliant place to enjoy tapas or a gastronomic meal.

The open plan living space of Alcudia Sol is a light and airy space, drowned in natural light from the large windows and floor-to-ceiling doors to the terrace. A wooden and white modern kitchen sits at the far end with excellent appliances for your self-catering break. A contemporary dining table and chairs comes next, albeit you are likely to want to dine alfresco on the terrace. The living area boasts a comfy corner sofa and a large television with satellite channels.

The first floor is home to the villa’s four bedrooms, three bathrooms, balconies and entry to the roof terrace. The bedrooms enjoy minimalist styling, plenty of wardrobe space and comfy beds. Two of the bedrooms offer beautifully dressed double beds, the third boasts twin beds and the last offers bunk beds. There are three very smart, immaculate tiled bathrooms to share, one of which is ensuite. Two of the bathrooms offer showers and the last offers a bath. Some of the bedrooms enjoy access to furnished balconies, perfect for your early morning cup of coffee or a late night tipple.

Alcudia Sol is set in a lush, green garden with hedging all around, ensuring privacy. There is an easy opening to Barcares Mari should you book both villas. The rear garden is splendid, boasting an excellent swimming pool surrounded by loungers and a parasol. You can enjoy delicious barbecues on the alfresco dining terrace using the villa’s barbecue. Alcudia Sol also boasts an amazing, beautifully furnished roof terrace. It is the perfect spot for cocktails, stunning views over to Puerto Pollensa and Formentor and sunset watching.

Alcudia Sol enjoys an excellent location, just moments from the sea in Barcares, a lovely, friendly and peaceful neighbourhood. The villa is just a short drive from the famous beaches of Port Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa. The lesser known, beautiful beaches of Manresa and Mal Pas are closer, within walking distance if you are happy to stroll.

Alcudia Old Town is just 1.5 km from the villa, located on a peninsula separating the bays of Pollensa and Alcudia. The town boasts an incredible history. The Romans brought an end to piracy and built the town but Alcudia was then destroyed in the 6th century. The town returned to greatness under the Moors. The walls you see today were added in the early 14th century under the rule of King Jaume II. Can Torro is the library of Alcudia, a beautiful mansion dating back to the early Middle Ages. Alcudia Old Town oozes charm from its lovely sandstone architecture, prettiest in the golden-hued late afternoon sunlight. The compact Old Town is brimming with charming narrow streets, first class gastronomic restaurants, trendy bars and gorgeous boutiques. Alcudia’s colourful market is very popular, as are the delicious tapas and the sangria available throughout the Old Town. Visitors can walk around the entire perimeter of the medieval walls, either on the inside using the Cami de Ronde route or on the outside, using what has now become a gardened walk. From the top of the walls, visitors enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Bay of Pollensa. You can also visit the bullring, the Roman ruins, the museum, amphitheatre and Sant Jaume Church. Sant Jaume Church was built in Neo-Gothic style and was finished in 1893 after the first church built in the 14th century fell into disrepair. The church was named after its founder King Jaume II. Art lovers enjoy the fantastic Sa Bassa Blanca Museum created by Yannick and Ben Jakober. Situated in an old palace overlooking the stunning bay and harbour of Alcudia and Port Alcudia from its location on the slopes of Alcanada, it is one of the most impressive exhibition halls in Mallorca. There is a lovley collection of animal sculptures in the garden. The town hosts many cultural events including traditional fiestas, classical music festivals, frequent live music and open-air plays.

The beach at Puerto Pollensa boasts silvery white sand and shallow, warm water. There is a delightful pine walk where you can amble under the pine trees enjoying authentic old buildings and amazing views. In Pollensa Old Town visitors are greeted by majestic old town walls and are enchanted by the lively main square, Placa Major. The square offers excellent restaurants, coffee and people watching. Pollensa’s bustling, popular Sunday market enjoys delicious food stands as well as many selling souvenirs and leather goods. The famous 365 Calvari Steps from Placa Major take you to the top of the town where you can visit the pretty Church of Nostra Senyora dels Angels. Light spills through the stained glass windows to illuminate its gorgeous interior. The views from the top are astonishing. Museo Dionis Bennassar, an unexpected treasure and the home of a famous local artist, is found just off the Placa Major. Pollensa offers stunning architecture, modern art galleries, amazing shops, delicious restaurants and a lively market.

As well as stunning beaches, fantastic, historic towns and lively ports, nature reigns supreme in Mallorca. The island is popular for its dramatic mountains, its fabulous mountain roads and its excellent hiking paths. There are twelve walking routes to explore this beautiful paradise, all offering breathtaking panoramic views of the coast, mountains and marshes, set against the intense blue backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea. The ancient monastery Puig de Pollensa sits on top of a mountain close to Pollensa town, offering outstanding views of the Pollensa Bay, the Cap de Formentor and the majestic Tramuntana mountains. You can walk up to the Puig in approximately 40 minutes and enjoy some refreshments at the cafe at the top or make use of the picnic tables.

Mallorca also boasts some amazing vineyards where you can taste some delicious wines. Bodegas Can Vidalet at Pollensa and Bodega Butxet are excellent. The Mortitx winery, hidden off a winding road between Pollensa and Lluc, is a young and up-and-coming contender in the Balearic wine market.
