A modern and well-located holiday home for up to four guests, Villa Durazno lies just outside Maspalomas on Gran Canaria’s stunning southern coast. Offering tranquility and seclusion, the house is positioned on a quiet hilltop above the town, and enjoys some beautiful mountain views.
Around 10 minutes’ drive from the centre of Maspalomas, Villa Durazno is the ideal choice for a small group looking to enjoy the natural beauty of this region. The villa offers an outdoor swimming pool looking out directly to the mountains, as well as a relaxing terrace area with dining table and a large barbecue. Sun loungers and an outdoor seating area with comfy sofas add to this house’s chilled vibe.
Step inside through the patio doors and you have a generous living space with modern furnishings – this area gets plenty of natural light and provides entertainment, with satellite TV and DVD available. Wi-Fi is also accessible if required.
The kitchen is equally contemporary, incorporating the various appliances you may need, including a dishwasher, microwave and freezer. There is another place to dine here, with a glass-topped table and four chairs ready for breakfast or an informal lunch.
With a double and a twin bedroom, and two bathrooms – one with a bath tub – Villa Durazno offers total comfort. Views out over the pool and gardens make the bedrooms particularly pleasant.
The villa is just a short drive from Maspalomas’ famously breathtaking sand dunes and the popular beach of Playa des Ingles. There are some 17km of beaches to explore along the coast, offering areas suited to both adults and children, and plenty of nearby amenities like restaurants and shops.
The local attractions range from the family-friendly Holiday World funfair and exotic Palmitos Park to beachfront bars and the open-air Moonlight Cinema. Take a stroll down to the area near the lighthouse for a peaceful evening of dining and drinks.
Gran Canaria is an island which has it all. Exquisite landscapes, beautiful beaches, entertainment when you want it, and peace and quiet when you don’t. Its irresistible mix of nature, culture and a warm welcome to visitors brings people back time and again.
The capital, Las Palmas, sits in the far north-eastern corner of the island. Among its highlights are the huge marina, Muelle Deportivo, and the beautifully designed park, Parque Doramas. Also, look out for the eye-catching Alfredo Klaus Auditorium which itself looks out on Las Canteras beach. You may even see a show or a concert there.
There is lots more of architectural interest in the town. Many of the most interesting buildings are found in the Vegueta area, including Santa Ana Cathedral. You will also find a Christopher Columbus museum and a modern art gallery in this district.
Away from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria has many more highlights. The Cueva Pintada archaeological site is a must for history lovers, while the cloud-filled views at the island’s peak near the town of Tejada are definitely worth the journey. On the southern coast, you have the sand dunes of the extensive beaches at Maspalomas, while charming spots like Puerto de las Nieves and Agaete in the north-west will simply make you feel good with their unspoilt natural beauty.
As one of Europe’s most gay-friendly destinations, Gran Canaria has no shortage of welcoming bars and clubs, while the regular carnivals and fiestas provide good fun for all. Whatever you plan on doing, you can be sure Gran Canaria has the weather for it, with the sun shining pretty much continuously all year round.
