Switch off and embrace nature in this rural retreat in the Yorkshire Dales, 1.5 miles from the market town of Hawes. The property sleeps five guests and is perfect for groups of friends or families with older children. The area is a paradise for walkers, and you can walk to the magnificent Hardraw Force waterfall from the cottage. The long-distance Pennine Way can also be joined just 1 mile away.
The stone barn conversion has a home-away-from-home vibe, with traditional furniture and original features. Enter the property via the hallway, where you can store outdoor attire, before moving through to the lounge. This cosy spot is full of character with a fabulous flagstone floor, exposed stonework, and an ornamental fireplace. After a long walk, unwind here on the plump sofas as you read a book or watch TV. From here, wander through to the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner, which has everything needed to cater for the group and a dining table to seat everyone. Upstairs, three tastefully decorated bedrooms await, all with beautiful original features and countryside views. The double bedroom has an en-suite shower room, and there’s also a family bathroom on this level. Outside, dine alfresco in the enclosed patio garden as you admire the stunning views across the Yorkshire Dales.
Hawes is full of independent shops, cafes, and pubs. The town is also home to the Wensleydale Creamery, where you can take a tour and sample the region’s famous cheese. The Dales Countryside Museum is also a must for the itinerary; it tells the fascinating story of the area and the people who lived and worked here. Hawes hosts a weekly farmers’ market, which is a great place to pick up delicious local produce for your supper.

We had a lovely time staying at Sheep Fold. Off the main road, so no noise from passing traffic. Beautiful countryside views, good walks from the door, parking and with all the amenities required only a short distance away in Hawes.
