As you step through the back door, you will be greeted by the timeless beauty of original oak beams and stone floors. All rooms have original period features with some hidden surprises! The heart of the home is the well-equipped shaker kitchen, fitted with a kitchen island and beautiful lighting. The adjoining dining room is a delight with its exposed beams and original fireplace. An Alexa Smart speaker is also in this room to set the mood for dinner. The living room is where you can relax with comfortable period seating , a modern TV and French doors opening out onto the patio and garden area. Upstairs there are the beautifully appointed bedrooms, each with its own distinct character and charm. The master bedroom has a double bed and an en-suite, the other two bedrooms have a double bed and a twin room with en-suite with a bath and shower cubicle. In the Old Milking Parlour, you will find a games room with seating!
One of the many highlights of this property is its close walking proximity to all of the historic places in Ely. Ely Cathedral, Oliver Cromwell’s House and the market, are all within a 5-minute walk. The beautiful riverside area is a 10-minute walk away and is highly recommended by the owner, as is a tour of Ely Cathedral with its famous Octagon Tower, and if you have a head for heights, take a tour up the spiral staircases onto the roof with its fantastic views.

My family and I had a comfortable week in the property and soon felt at home. It is quite an unusual property in appearance, but works perfectly well as a place to stay. There were a few minor weak spots like some of the toilet seats needing attention, but on the whole we were very satisfied (it was great to have enough sets of keys for a change).The location was ideal both for the centre of Ely and the New Dragon Inn, the excellent local Chinese takeaway. While the postcode was perfectly accurate, the property had no obvious house number, so some of our party had to be guided in.

Lovely location; near to the cathedral and some excellent restaurants. Very quiet at night. Appreciated the off road parking and spacious, well-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms were comfortable but the living room was a bit bare to sit in in the evenings. No matter- this is a perfect base to explore the Fenlands as well as wander around Ely with its bijou shops and cafes. We all bought an annual pass to the cathedral so we could pop into events/tours over several days.
