Guests say

Reed Lodge receives high praise for its cleanliness, well-equipped kitchen, and comfortable beds. Guests appreciate the peaceful rural setting, ample parking, and proximity to Ely and local attractions. The property is described as cosy, tastefully decorated, and ideal for families and dog owners. The welcome pack and friendly, helpful hosts are frequently mentioned. Minor issues include limited wardrobe space in one bedroom, a tricky oven, and some road noise, but these do not detract from the overall positive experience.

Cleanliness is consistently highlighted, with multiple guests describing the property as very clean, tidy, and well maintained. Only one review mentions the presence of 'creepy crawlies', likely due to the rural location and time of year, but this is not a recurring concern.

The location is praised for its peaceful rural setting, easy access to Ely, Littleport, and Cambridge, and suitability for exploring the area. Some mention the road being bumpy or busy, but overall, guests find the location convenient and scenic.

Guests frequently mention comfortable beds, cosy living areas, and a homely atmosphere. The property is described as spacious for its size, with good heating and hot showers. A few note that one bedroom is small and the mattress may be too soft for some, but comfort is generally rated highly.

The lodge is well equipped, with quality kitchen appliances, en-suite bathrooms, and ample parking. Facilities such as the hot tub, wood burner, and garden are appreciated. Minor issues include some cookware needing renewal and a complicated oven, but these are outweighed by the positives.

Guests often mention a generous welcome pack and the friendly, helpful hosts. While these thoughtful touches are appreciated, please note that gifts such as welcome packs are not guaranteed with every stay.

The university city of Cambridge offers numerous museums, including the famous Fitzwilliam, lots of walking tours, including university routes, punting, shopping and great places to eat. You should also make time for the open top bus tour, which gives an insight into the history of this fascinating city. And, why not take a trip to Norwich with its impressive Norman castle overlooking a fine city full of attractions and things to do? History buffs will also enjoy a visit to the Hanseatic Old Quarter of Kings Lynn, The Royal Sandringham Estate or the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, which offers up an impressive collection detailing the history of aviation, including several aircraft. In fact, this may well be your only chance now to say that you’ve been on Concorde!

For a change of pace and some refreshing sea air, you can be in Hunstanton in less than an hour. Here you will find a wide sandy beach that seems to go on forever, a small funfair, a Sealife Centre, Norfolk Lavender and lots of seaside shops and cafes. Closer to home lies the bustling city of Ely with its impressive cathedral, nicknamed ‘The ship of the Fens’ because of the way it rises up on the horizon. Here you will find a fascinating stained glass museum, which offers a rare insight to this beautiful art form.

Bustling Newmarket is close by and offers a famous racecourse which often hosts musical entertainment evenings. For breathtaking countryside, visit Thetford Forest with its numerous walks and cycle routes, and its Go Ape centre, featuring tree walks, zip wires and Tarzan swings. And, after all your adventures, you can head back to Wood Fen Lodges, unwind, relax (perhaps in the hot tub?) and dream of places yet to see. Just perfect! Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Very nice cottage in lovely rural location but close enough to shops in Ely and only a 30 minute car ride to Cambridge. Host very friendly and helpful.

We had a very pleasant stay at Reed lodge. The road to it was a bit of an adventure, very up and down. Children would love it. lol. I would have liked to have some cushions for the garden furniture as it was a bit hard for my frail frame. Otherwise very nice. Well placed for trips to Ely, March etc.
