Guests say

Sedge Lodge receives high praise for its peaceful location, spacious and clean interiors, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests particularly enjoy the hot tub, large gardens, and thoughtful touches such as welcome packs. The property is dog and wheelchair friendly, making it suitable for a range of visitors. While most reviews are very positive, a few mention minor maintenance issues and some accessibility challenges. Overall, guests find it a relaxing and comfortable retreat, with many planning to return.

The majority of guests describe the lodge as spotlessly clean and well looked after. Only one review mentions an issue with dog hair on furniture, but this is outweighed by consistently positive feedback.

The tranquil, rural setting is widely appreciated, with guests enjoying the peacefulness and views. The property is a short drive from Ely and other attractions, though its remote location means a car is necessary.

Guests frequently mention comfortable beds, spacious living areas, and effective heating and fans. A few note minor issues such as a cold bedroom window and a mattress needing replacement, but overall comfort is rated highly.

The lodge is praised for its well-equipped kitchen, hot tub, and large gardens. Some guests mention minor maintenance issues (e.g., oven, furniture, window insulation), and note that the spa is no longer operating, but these do not significantly detract from the overall experience.

Many guests appreciate the welcome packs including essentials like milk, bread, butter, wine, and biscuits. While these thoughtful touches are frequently mentioned, please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Those wishing to explore the area will have chosen well with so much to see and do nearby. The university city of Cambridge offers numerous museums, including the famous Fitzwilliam, lots of walking tours, including university routes, punting, shopping and great places to eat. You should also make time for the open top bus tour, which gives an insight into the history of this fascinating city. And, why not take a trip to Norwich with its impressive Norman castle overlooking a fine city full of attractions and things to do? History buffs will also enjoy a visit to the Hanseatic Old Quarter of Kings Lynn, The Royal Sandringham Estate or the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, which offers up an impressive collection detailing the history of aviation, including several aircraft. In fact, this may well be your only chance now to say that you’ve been on Concorde!

For a change of pace and some refreshing sea air, you can be in Hunstanton in less than an hour. Here you will find a wide sandy beach that seems to go on forever, a small funfair, a Sealife Centre, Norfolk Lavender and lots of seaside shops and cafes. Closer to home lies the bustling city of Ely with its impressive cathedral, nicknamed ‘The ship of the Fens’ because of the way it rises up on the horizon. Here you will find a fascinating stained glass museum, which offers a rare insight to this beautiful art form.

Bustling Newmarket is close by and offers a famous racecourse which often hosts musical entertainment evenings. For breathtaking countryside, visit Thetford Forest with its numerous walks and cycle routes, and its Go Ape centre, featuring tree walks, zip wires and Tarzan swings. And, after all your adventures, you can head back to Wood Fen Lodges, unwind, relax (perhaps in the hot tub?) and dream of places yet to see. Just perfect! Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Great holiday cottage. Very comfortable beds . Lounge settles very comfortable. Large spacious showers. Very pleasant and helpful hosts. The fans were a life saver in the heatwave. If you have never driven on fenland roads you will find Black Back Road quite a roller coaster!

We had a wonderful break in this lovely lodge. We very much enjoyed the terrace with views across The Fens. The hot tub was an added bonus. Especially appreciated the welcome pack, the cleanliness, the comfy bed and hot powerful shower. Grateful for the fans as there in the heatwave! Love Ely and Cambridge but a bit too hot for sight seeing, so will have to go back!
