About this property

Situated in the picturesque village of Eastington, near the market town of Northleach in Gloucestershire, is this grand 19th-century cottage, No 1 Eastington. Featuring beautiful surroundings, nestled down a country lane, a stone-fronted exterior with rose climbers, ample off-road parking, and a tranquil setting, the cottage is perfect for a family or group getaway, welcoming four guests. Throughout No 1 Eastington you will find original features, such as beamed ceilings and exposed stone walls, an open fire, oak flooring, and bright and stylish interiors, offering a characterful home-from-home. Enjoy a well-equipped kitchen, a charming dining room, a homely sitting room, and plush bedrooms whilst staying at No 1 Eastington, completed with an ensuite bathroom, idyllic for an evening soak as well as family shower room. If you can tear yourself away from your retreat, Northleach rests just over the brow of the hill, where you'll be greeted by several shops, eateries and two popular pubs, including Sherborne Arms. Set within the heart of the Cotswold, an idyllic area for avid walkers, cyclists, and hikers, embark on an adventure through the likes of Laurie Lee Wildlife Way, a five-mile circular trail. A short car journey to Cheltenham will lead you to The Gardens Gallery, exhibiting local artistic work, enjoy a picnic upon Imperial Garden, or perhaps plan your route up Devil's Chimney. Travelling towards the county, reach the bustling city of Gloucester, where visits to National Waterways Museum Gloucester, the docks, and Alney Island Nature Reserve are a must, whether you're into history or the outdoors. No 1 Eastington is the ideal base, whether you're looking to simply visit or explore The Cotswold.

Northleach is located right off the Roman road, the Fosse Way (A429), 8 miles north-east of Cirencester and 10 miles south-west of Stow-on-the-Wold, and around 7 miles from Burford, giving it an ideal starting point for visiting these popular and attractive destinations. Northleach was formerly a bustling market town known across Europe as a significant hub for the Cotswold wool trade! The affluent wool merchants paid for the fifteenth-century church of St Peter and St Paul, which was erected using stone taken from the town's quarry and what is now the Market Square. The village has recently been featured in a number of films, notably the 2015 film Casual Vacancy.

Everything was exactly as we'd hoped, with the exception of a cafetiere in the kitchen... It's a very well equipped kitchen, but this simple and inexpensive additon would be very welcome..! Otherwise, full marks all round..!

CIA had to call to disable the alarm and reset. The directions to the property were not accurate as the lane had a left turn which hid the cottage and we went straight on where it was hard to turn around.

1 Eastington. The cottage was wonderful and in a lovely position as described. There was everything you needed provided for. My bed (the double) felt luxurious with crisp white sheets and bedding. The cottage was very clean. Only a couple of issues; the first one was the Internet, fantastic speeds the Saturday, on Sunday it went down and no amount of rebooting would correct it. This is not a big deal and we did not come away to sit on the Internet all weekend, but just thought you should know. The second issue, there was no welcome pack. In the holiday details it said all the properties had a welcome pack with all the info we needed. So we were not too sure about where to leave the rubbish, where to leave the dirty linen, towels etc, and we struggled to find the Internet code and initially how to use the big oven. We were not sure about the key fob and security system so we just left well alone and hoped it was OK. Also knowing emergency numbers like local doctor etc would have been a useful back up. So we just used our common sense and got on with it. But overall the holiday was fantastic and we loved our stay. The two issues above did not spoil anything. It was so peaceful and the perfect getaway.
