Guests say

Tuesday Cottage in Bourton on the Water is highly praised for its cleanliness, charming character, and prime location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities and the cosy, comfortable atmosphere. While some mention minor issues with parking and space for larger groups, the overall experience is delightful, with many expressing a desire to return.

The cottage is consistently described as spotlessly clean, with multiple reviews highlighting the cleanliness as a standout feature. This suggests a very high standard of cleanliness maintained at the property.

The location is frequently praised for being picturesque and central, with easy access to local attractions. The proximity to the river and town is a highlight, indicating an excellent location.

Comfort is well-regarded, with guests finding the cottage cosy and the beds comfortable. However, some guests noted the cottage could feel cramped for larger groups and the stairs challenging for seniors, slightly impacting the comfort score.

Facilities are generally praised, especially the well-equipped kitchen and the characterful decor. However, there are comments about the lack of space for larger groups and noise from adjoining properties, which suggests room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

While guests have mentioned a welcome pack and Christmas decorations, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtful touches or gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

About this property

Set in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water and mere moments from the village center, Tuesday Cottage is a beautiful 17th century home that manages to retain its timeless character, whilst also displaying a contemporary feel. Upon entering the property, you will be immediately greeted by a snug and relaxing living area that provides seating for five and comes with a log burning stove, as well as a Smart TV and DVD player. This room provides a wonderful and relaxing atmospheric retreat with the large, inglenook fireplace and the history of the cottage is reflected in the beams which have been brought back to their original state.

Moving forward, you will find the kitchen/diner, which provides you a place to sit and relax and discuss the day's events over a beautifully prepared meal. You will also find the beautifully appointed bathroom, finished to an exceptionally high standard which adds a real touch of luxury, featuring a generous walk in shower, gorgeous roll top bath, toilet, and hand basin.

Rising up from the first floor you will find some narrow and steep stairs which lead to a room with a double bed, wardrobe storage and generous view of the area. The second, single room on the second floor is again accessed via steep, open tread stairs - a quirky and atmospheric space which again gives evidence of the age of the cottage. Hot repaired . Furniture in Lounge tired and very uncomfortable carpet Dirty and worn Standard lamp broken and stains on new stair carpet which surprised us on arrival Windows dirty in living room with insect droppings between panes.Kitchen very good although we were not planning eating in during our months stay."Secret garden" a joke overgrown and moss on furniture.Trying to contact Sykes for refresh weekly cleaning and linen change only after threatening reporting to BBB and Fodor did they take action. As a gesture I repaired the lampshade and provided a non slip mat for the shower.Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Cotswolds but disappointed with the accommodation.

All was clean and beautifully presented when we arrived. Plenty of equipment in the kitchen for cooking in if we wanted to. The stairs to the upper 2 bedrooms, as mentioned in the details, really are steep and narrow - fine for our young adults who loved having their own cosy and quirky spaces but worth considering if you are travelling with people who are elderly or less mobile. We really lived our time here and hope to visit again. Thank you ☺️
