About this property

Set in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water and mere moments from the village center, Tuesday Cottage is a beautiful 17th century home that manages to retain its timeless character, whilst also displaying a contemporary feel. Upon entering the property, you will be immediately greeted by a snug and relaxing living area that provides seating for five and comes with a log burning stove, as well as a Smart TV and DVD player. This room provides a wonderful and relaxing atmospheric retreat with the large, inglenook fireplace and the history of the cottage is reflected in the beams which have been brought back to their original state. Moving forward, you will find the kitchen/diner, which provides you a place to sit and relax and discuss the day's events over a beautifully prepared meal. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances to make your time spent as relaxing as possible. Rising up to the first floor, you will find a master bedroom which features a king size bed, and a gorgeous view to the local area. You will also find the beautifully appointed bathroom, finished to an exceptionally high standard which adds a real touch of luxury, featuring a generous walk in shower, gorgeous roll top bath, toilet, and hand basin. Rising up from the first floor you will find some narrow and steep stairs which lead to a room with a double bed, wardrobe storage and generous view of the area. The second, single room on the second floor is again accessed via steep, open tread stairs - a quirky and atmospheric space which again gives evidence of the age of the cottage. Externally, given that the cottage dates back hundreds of years, and sits within the very centre of the village, you have a surprisingly large outside private space to enjoy. There is a secluded, graceful outside seating area with two sets of tables and chairs and garden bench, and provides a tranquil setting in the middle of this bustling village - ideal for a spot of al-fresco dining, or to simply sit and relax. In terms of location, Tuesday Cottage could not be better positioned, as it rests only 50 yards from the iconic River Windrush which bisects the village, and gives it the title of 'the Venice of the Cotswolds'. In the village you will find plenty to keep you occupied, with an array of pubs and restaurants, as well as attractions such as the famous Model Village, Cotswold Motoring and Toy Museum, Birdland Park & Gardens, and Bourton Vale Equestrian Centre. A little further, take a stroll to the pretty village of Lower Slaughter, or travel a little further to the quintessential Cotswold towns of Burford, Stow on the Wold and Broadway, all within 10 miles. There is something at Tuesday Cottage for everyone to enjoy and get the best out of a retreat to the Cotswolds.

It’s worth noting that the kitchen door (where the key safe is) is through the gate on the right of the neighbouring cottage as it wasn’t obvious on arrival. The housekeeper is to be commended on the immaculately made beds!

We were slightly confused on arrival about which side of the house to get to the door and keysafe box. Maybe that was us (in the dark too!), but maybe the wording could be tweaked to improve that for others.

I will happily complete a review of the property itself when I get the opportunity to provide this feedback to Sykes
