The peaceful village location, excellent local amenities, and beautiful countryside walks are frequently mentioned. Many guests appreciated the welcome hampers and homemade treats, though these are not guaranteed. A few minor points were raised about parking and storage, but overall, the property offers a memorable and comfortable stay in the Cotswolds.
Multiple reviews describe the property as spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness.
Guests love the peaceful village setting, proximity to local pubs, countryside walks, and easy access to nearby attractions. One minor mention of parking being across the road, but overall, location is highly praised.
The property is repeatedly described as comfortable, warm, and relaxing, with high-quality beds and underfloor heating. Only one review noted a lack of wardrobes/drawers, but this did not significantly impact overall comfort.
Guests highlight the well-equipped kitchen, modern appliances, luxurious bathrooms, air conditioning, and thoughtful amenities. A single suggestion was made for more outdoor shade during hot weather, but facilities are otherwise considered excellent.
Many guests mention generous welcome hampers, homemade treats, and personal touches from the owners, though it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.
Set within the pretty Cotswold village of Paxford, The Old Mission Church has been extensively renovated and lovingly restored to create a fabulous and luxurious holiday retreat in this beautiful historical building dating back to 1866. A stunning, architect designed, open-plan interior perfectly complements the many original architectural and historic features of the church. Perfectly placed for exploring all that the wonderful Cotswolds has to offer.
On entering the property, guests will be wowed by the designer kitchen with its large central island, flowing into the living and dining areas. The church is packed with original features including original doors, stained-glass windows, vaulted ceilings, the clock mechanism, and bespoke furniture and lighting.
Bedroom one boasts an en-suite and is located on the ground floor, where guests will be sure to enjoy a good night’s sleep with its sumptuous king-size bed and cloud soft pillows. A modern free-standing bath adds a touch of decadence to this beautiful room. Climb up the bespoke glass and steel staircase to the mezzanine ‘Pod’ where bedroom two also enjoys a king-size bed and en-suite shower room. A glazed screen provides privacy whilst affording a striking view into the church interior.
Outside is a pretty south-facing and beautifully landscaped seating area, complete with painted pews. A patio to the rear of the church overlooks stunning open countryside and is the perfect spot to enjoy heavenly sunsets.

gorgeously restored and designed interior preserves the historic exterior of the Church and children's school. Comfortable, spacious, memorable experience. Generous welcome hamper provided by owners who were also available by WhatsApp to respond quickly to inquiries. Excellent beds, top of the line appliances (dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, oven/stove, microwave, toaster, electric hot water heater), excellent shower (and deep tub for those who might enjoy this), pretty patio and view of the countryside including a walking path along side the grounds. Wood and starter chips provided for the in-home fireplace and rubbish, recycling and compost/food waste bins provided as well. In summary, one of the most unique and most beautiful places I have ever stayed on holiday. Thank you Julie and Geoff!
