About this property

A stone-built dwelling, nestling within a series of former barns in the delightful village of Blockley. After driving down a secluded, private drive you will be greeted to this character property, offering spacious accommodation for a family gathering, or group of friends, to the Cotswolds. The interior of the property offers a welcoming charm and a number of traditional features to quietly reflect the history of the building. After a busy day exploring, you will find a well-equipped open-plan kitchen / living / dining room, containing all the necessities you will need throughout your stay, including a dishwasher, electric oven and hob, and a utility room housing the washing machine. Lounge during a winter’s evening within the sitting room, where sumptuous sofas await your presence. The ground floor is also home to one of the two stunning family bathrooms, where you can take a long soak in the tub, or have a quick invigorating shower. Follow the staircase up, where you will find three well-appointed bedrooms, comprising of two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom, perfect for hosting up to six guests. Continuing to impress is the elegantly-presented second family bathroom, where again you have the choice of a bath or a shower. To the rear of the property you will be able to soak up the sun within the garden’s private patio - an ideal spot for your morning coffee, or an evening glass of wine. Within a 5-minute walk, you will find an excellent village shop and café, and if you can't face cooking then why not sample the fayre on offer in the nearby pubs. To keep you busy whilst staying here, you will find Mill Dene Gardens close by, which is known as one of the most interesting gardens within the Cotswolds, where you can take a leisurely stroll whilst catching a glimpse of the trout, kingfishers and ducks. Alternatively, you can visit the National Trust property of Snowshill Manor, which is a beautiful 16th-century house with an outstanding garden. Badger's Den is a perfect bolthole for a family holiday to the Cotswolds.

Blue Anchor is a small coastal hamlet in west Somerset, three miles from medieval Dunster. Well known for its alabaster rocks, which are of great geological interest, Blue Anchor is a quiet and peaceful seaside location with a wide beach, plentiful fossils and a promenade three quarters of a mile long with scenic views of Dunster Castle and Minehead Bay beyond. It offers peaceful relaxation, is popular with anglers who fish off the promenade, and is just a short steam train ride on the West Somerset Railway from Minehead. The Blue Anchor station waiting room and booking office have been lovingly restored, using Great Western fittings, many of them original, and the Railway Museum is housed in the former waiting room. Walk along the beach from Blue Anchor to Dunster, enjoying the views across the channel towards Wales, and wander through the medieval streets with the beautiful castle towering above. Inside the castle are fine plasterwork ceilings, while the extensive terraced and landscaped gardens contain many rare shrubs and trees, and offer marvellous views out to sea. Further afield, Minehead has golden sandy beaches, seaside attractions, and plenty of cafes, shops and bistros.

The cottage had everything you could have needed and more. We would highly recommend Badgers Den and will be visiting again in the future

Some points needing attention however. The freezer compartment in the fridge was completely iced up and the separate freezer in the store cupboard beneath the stairs was unclean. Separately, the internet and password details were incorrect, but we were able to obtain them from the router.

However, the mattresses were too soft and the lack of proper curtains or blinds bothered us. We don’t need total black outs but the current curtains don’t even cover the windows. Also, not major but I found the water pressure a bit weak. If the first two were improved I’d definitely come back
