  When we arrived at the property, we let our dogs out into the "enclosed garden" only to find that it was not enclosed, and the dogs escaped through an un-gated side entrance.

  Fortunately, the maintenance team addressed this issue the next day by blocking the 3ft pathway with a pallet, which effectively resolved the problem. Thankfully, the dogs were unharmed, but the property should not be described as dog-friendly with an enclosed garden. On the surface, the property's cleanliness seemed fine. However, as we began using the facilities, it became clear that the cleanliness was not up to the expected standard. We found hairs in the kitchen drawers, tea-stained mugs, dirty pans and cutlery, crumbs in the oven, layer of grime onto of oven's extractor fan and fridge (both at eye level) and cobwebs throughout, to name some of the issues. Additionally, the upstairs area had a stale smoke odor and clearly needed a deep clean. Sykes did offer to re-clean the property during our stay, but this was halfway through our visit, which was inconvenient. We didn't want a cleaner there while our belongings were in the property, nor did we want to deal with the awkwardness of having the property re-cleaned while we were there. We also didn't want to restrict ourselves to staying at the property when we wanted to be out enjoying the Cotswolds. The property should have been properly cleaned before we arrived.

  We have just enjoyed a lovely weekend at Stepwell.

  The house is in a remote location with wonderful views and footpaths to explore the countryside. Having a covered hot tub was great as it meant we could use it whatever the weather. It rained all weekend but we were able to use the hot tub despite this. The house is well stocked with plenty of crockery and plastic glasses for use in hot tub. There was a selection of condiments such as cooking oil and spices to use which was helpful. The big fridge freezer was handy to store all our food and bottles and the freezer produces a supply of ice, which would’ve been handy to know as we had lugged an ice machine with us. The house is a great social or family space with plenty of room for everyone. Bath towels are provided but individual hand towels would be helpful too. Would definitely recommend Stepwell.

  A wonderful holiday I cannot recommend it enoughI have stayed in many cottages but this really was a home away from home. It was as though the owners had just left to go out to the shops! It was quiet, pleasant and comfortable. If you have a dog or young children it has a very suitable garden and there is a wee park just across the road. The shops, cafes and restaurant are about a five minute walk away with the co-op the same distance through the park. The town has a lot to offer and I strongly recommend the market on a Tuesday morning. It is easy to travel all around the Cotswold area in a car from here and nothing seemed to be further than half an hour away. Even visiting at the end of February we were delighted with not only the house but also the area.

  This house is in a very good position for touring some of the many Cotswold attractions without having to travel too far each day.

  It is very well laid out in relation to rooms, bathrooms and facilities and is of a high standard. The household instructions were plentiful and clear, especially relating to the recycling. I found all that very useful. Ruskin House is on the High Street of a busy market town. It is slightly set back but there is some traffic noise even with the double glazing. In the attic room, there is one window which is single glazed ( I think an original window) which while it's quaint, does allow traffic noise to penetrate which I found disturbing, even though I actually live on a busy road so should be used to it! That said we did have a lovely time there.

  Stepwell is a beautiful cottage with a lovely little garden and hot tub use.

  There's plenty of lovely walks and other villages to drive to nearby. Beds all very comfortable, hot tub is huge and so warm! Fridge is massive, perfect for big groups. There was a slight shortage of forks, had to wash them every time between meals as we were limited to one each. (8 of us) The dishwasher was leaking and the downstairs shower room had a leak from the upstairs bathroom but we informed the owner and carried on with our day. It wasn't an issue for us. We were able to check out later too which was lovely and appreciated. Would absolutely return!!!!
