About this property

Resting in the characterful town of Tetbury in Gloucestershire is Foxwood Cottage, a delightful two-bedroom dwelling. Enveloped by the Cotswolds AONB, and just a stone's throw away from an array of local amenities, Foxwood Cottage welcomes four guests and one well-behaved dog for a countryside escape. Enter the homely sitting room, complete with plush soft furnishings, neutral accessories, and a charming feature woodburning stove, offering the ideal space to cosy up with a cup of tea. Travelling into the kitchen/diner, take advantage of the state-of-the-art appliances on offer to ease your self-catered stay, before dining around the contemporary dining table, or heading outdoors to bask in the sunshine upon the bistro set.

As the night unfolds, enjoy a long soak in the bathroom, before resting in one of two double bedrooms, both complete with storage and light furnishings. Come morning, discover the array of shops and eateries upon your doorstep, before touring Tetbury Police Museum & Courtroom, enjoying a picnic at Highgrove Gardens, or hiking across Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, home to an abundance of wildlife, offering the ideal chance to bird watch. Cirencester is a short drive away, where you can opt for a guided tour of Corinium Museum or discover the remains of Cirencester's Roman Amphitheatre, the largest in Britain, before reaching Cirencester Park, ideal for touring by foot or horseback.

A host of beauty spots are awaiting across the county, including Cotswold Commons and Beechwoods National Nature Reserve, Painswick Rococo Garden, and the Museum in the Park, recommended to add to your itinerary, before reaching the cusp of River Severn, where you'll find Slimbridge Wetland Centre, offering the chance of wildlife spotting. Take to the countryside with Foxwood Cottage as your abode.

Tetbury's historic streets still have a tonne of character. Although the town's founding dates back to 681, its golden age as one of the principal markets for the Cotswold wool trade occurred in the Middle Ages. Today, the town is something of a destination for antique hunters with various shops in the town and frequent fairs in the area. The Market Hall still hosts a bustling general market every Wednesday. One of the greatest collections of rare shrubs and trees in Europe is located nearby at the Forestry Commission's Westonbirt Arboretum, while other nearby attractions include Shakespeare's Stratford, the elegant Regency cities of Bath and Cheltenham, and the world-famous Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust.

The armchair in the lounge is more child sized than adult and uncomfortable as a result. The main light in the lounge was very bright but had to be used as the one small lamp was not bright enough on it's own ! It would be helpful if the main light were on a dimmer switch. The parking outside the cottage is awful - there was hardly ever space for us to park there and the road is extremely noisy with constant traffic during the day, including lorries, and about 3 hours respite during the night - not very relaxing ! We really felt that this should be highlighted more in the cottage details.

The bed in front bedroom not very comfy as the mattress seems to go uphill in the middle, might be because we’re not used to that type of mattress. The parking at the front is described as ample but you’re very lucky if you get a space….but we ate in the Priory pub over the road and they said we could park there. Terbury is a beautiful town with plenary of lovely shops and eating places, also lots of lovely walks.

It would have been great to have a mirror in bedroom 2 and another hook in the main. Other than that. It was perfect. Thank you.
