Guests consistently praise the cottage for its comfort, well-equipped nature, and tasteful decoration. It serves as a great base for exploring local attractions and enjoying walks. The property is noted for its cleanliness and the owners' responsiveness. While some guests mention traffic noise and the challenge of low ceilings for taller individuals, these are minor compared to the overall positive experience.
The cottage receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews mentioning it being 'spotlessly clean' and 'immaculately clean', indicating meticulous maintenance.
The location is generally appreciated for its proximity to local attractions and walks, such as Calke Abbey. However, some guests noted traffic noise, which slightly impacted the score.
Comfort is highlighted with mentions of a 'homely' feel and 'comfortable' beds. The presence of a 'secret garden' and thoughtful touches add to the comfort, though low ceilings and traffic noise are noted.
Facilities are well-regarded, with the property being described as 'well-equipped'. However, the mention of bed bugs in one review and the absence of a washing machine in another suggest room for improvement.
Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, such as welcome packs and a bottle of wine on arrival. While these gestures are warmly received, it is politely noted that such gifts are offered at the owners' discretion and may not be guaranteed.

The owners were really helpful and welcoming. Although there isnât a shop in the village Melbourne is only few minutes away with a well stocked Sainsburyâs and there is also a great farm shop close by. It was perfect for our family Christmas with a lovely kitchen/dining space and log burner in the lounge (although the heating was so efficient that we only lit it a couple of times). Definitely recommend.

It is a beautiful cottage and well-equipped and in a great location right by Calke Abbey. The house was spotlessly clean and beds very comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Calke abbey is walking distance, which was great. Really handy having two car parking spaces. Was really easy to find following the directions. The third floor is quite tricky to get up there if you're tall, a great space for children if they're quite independent. We had two babies with us and while the space was great to have, getting them up and down was hard. But older kids would absolutely love this space, great set up for them!
