Guests say

16 Long Row is a well-received cottage in Belper, praised for its cleanliness, cosy comfort, and excellent location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, the private garden, and the thoughtful touches like welcome gifts. While there are some minor concerns about road access and a request for more information on local amenities, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many guests eager to return.

The cottage is generally celebrated for its cleanliness, with most guests finding it in beautiful condition. However, one review mentioned cobwebs, spiders, and unclean dishes, which slightly lowers the score.

The location is highly regarded, being close to local amenities, the train station, and the town centre. The historic road adds character, although one guest noted it was tricky to navigate.

Comfort is frequently mentioned, with guests finding the cottage cosy and homely. One guest noted a squeaky bed, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.

Facilities are well-received with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and wood burner. However, there is insufficient information to score maintenance separately, as most reviews do not distinguish between the two.

Guests are delighted by the thoughtfulness of the owner, including welcome gifts. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.

Located in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site, the town of Belper boasts a rich and illustrious history that dates back to the 13th century, when it was known as Beaurepaire (beautiful retreat). There are many exciting places to visit in this town now, such as the North Mill, Long Row, and the River Gardens. The town has an annual Arts festival in May, as well as seasonal food festivals in the winter and summer, and a monthly Farmers Market, all of which contribute to the thriving local music and arts scene. Wirksworth, a nearby mediaeval village, hosts an annual Art and Architecture tour and Arts Festival in September. Matlock, a popular Peak District town, and its neighbour, Matlock Bath, are located in the picturesque, wooded gorge of the River Derwent and are only 10 miles distant. Shops, taverns, and restaurants abound in the Matlocks, and there are many other fun things to do there as well. The cable car rides up to the Heights of Abraham is fun for the whole family, and the view down the canyon is spectacular. The High Peak Cycle Trail begins just south of town, and both Bakewell and Chatsworth House are well worth a visit to the north. All spaces were great. Heating was easy. The double bed on the first floor was very springy and we had to move to the room above. Once we did that we slept like logs. Will definitely be back.

Well situated close to the town center, all the shops and pubs/ restaurants. Very good bus service in the area. The cottage was clean and well equipped, we didn't miss anything. Instructions indeed would have been very welcome (for devices like heating etc) Parking directly in the front of the house, very convenient. As the road is historic too, it is very bumpy, so no through traffic. All drivers there are very carefully. It was no problem at all. Thank for the lovely stay.

Our car was scratched quite badly due to this. On the photos it does not show what the actual full road looks like so I would say the photo is deceiving. The property itself was georgous and cosy and comfortable, however we did not feel it was very clean. The number of cobwebs and spiders everywhere really let the place down. We found 2 used face masks under the bedroom on the top floor, which was really off putting. The previous people that stayed clearly could not be asked to dispose of thier used face masks in the bin and decided to throw them behind the bed. This obviously was not spotted when it was being cleaned for our stay. We had to dispose them and gave the bedroom a good vaccum. Some of the dishes were dirty, the teapot was filthy and the bathroom/toilet was also not very clean. Bed in bedroom in first floor not comfortable at all, very noisy and squeaky, however bed in top floor was very comfortable. But overall a good comfortable and cosy stay and close to some beautiful spots, the garden was lovely.
