About this property

Nestled in the historic industrial town of Belper, surrounded by the Derbyshire countryside and not far from the wonderful Peak District National Park, is this traditional mill manager's house, Chevin View. A semi-detached, three-storey dwelling, Chevin View is perfectly suited to a family of six seeking a UK staycation full of scenic walks and fascinating, historic attractions. Be welcomed into the property after walking through the pretty, enclosed front garden, stepping straight into the homely sitting room where a chesterfield sofa, and matching armchair and wingback chair, offer a spot to unwind before the traditional woodburning stove with a Smart TV to entertain. Walk beneath the original beams and atop the polished wooden floor over to the spacious kitchen, featuring exposed brick to add character aside the more contemporary glass dining table, while powder blue fitted units house a great range of appliances for rustling up delicious home-cooked meals to enjoy. Spend time outside in the lovely enclosed garden, with a patio area to sit out on in the summer months, perfect for alfresco dining and soaking up the sun. Head upstairs to the first floor to find a beautiful king-size bedroom overlooking the garden, a sleek shower room to for refreshing showers, and a twin room which is ideal for little ones and home to a selection of children's books for a lovely bedtime story. Completing the layout of this 19th century abode is the second-floor double bedroom, offering a private setting to catch your rest, and benefitting from an en-suite shower room. The award-winning Belper high street is just a short walk away, you can leave your car parked on the off-road parking space and explore on foot, browsing the great selection of independent shops and boutiques, with plenty of restaurants and pubs to choose from too. The ground-breaking 'skyscraper technology' which is used the world over, where a fire proof iron frame is the basis for a structure, was first conceived in this Derbyshire town; learn about this conception at Strutt's North Mill Museum, with a fascinating insight into the Industrial Revolution within this former cotton mill. Enjoy strolls around the town admiring the sights like Long Row and The Clusters, St John's Chapel, which is the oldest building in town and home to the Belper Heritage Centre, and the Nail Makers Workshop, while the Belper River Gardens are delightful for a picnic, hosting special events throughout the year. Walkers can enjoy the many great walking areas in the surrounding area, as well as the fantastic Peak District National Park within easy driving distance. Carsington Water is perfect for an active family seeking some adventure, with plenty of watersports to choose from like sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and rowboat hire, as well as a great cycling trail around the lake and fishing available too. The delights of Matlock and Matlock Bath offer plenty to keep your busy too, with the Heights of Abraham, Gulliver's Kingdom theme park and Matlock Bath Aquarium and Arcade all worth visiting. Shame about the seating in the living room as other people have said the sofa and chairs are really uncomfortable

  • Michelle

We were really impressed when we first arrived. We stayed with 2 young children and they loved the duplo and children’s books, as well as the spacious garden to run around in. All the beds were super comfortable The only issue we had was that you could hear a lot of noise in between rooms but put that down to the fact it was a traditional older cottage. We were able to visit a few places so great location. We loved staying there!

Lacking slightly in utensils and suitable drinking glasses. Not very private internally as noise travels easily upstairs. We were 4 people all over 80 years and the stairs were a challenge. Very convenient and central for daily visits to other towns. Ideal location for younger people and families.
