Nightingale Cottage is a charming property praised for its attentive owners, peaceful location, and direct access to scenic walks along the canal. Guests enjoy the tranquillity, local wildlife, and proximity to Peak District attractions. The cottage's character adds to the experience, though some updates are suggested.
The cottage is generally appreciated but one review suggests it could benefit from a more thorough clean between visitors. This indicates good but not impeccable standards of cleanliness.
The location is highly regarded for its peaceful setting and proximity to walks and heritage sites. However, some amenities like pubs and shops require a short drive.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces relaxing, particularly after long walks, which suggests a good level of comfort overall.
The cottage offers enjoyable facilities like fishing and badger watching, but some practical amenities like a washing up bowl and drying rack are missing. The bathroom and TV setup are noted as adequate but could be improved.
While guests have a positive experience, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owners. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.
A great base for a family holiday and perfectly placed for exploring the Peak District whether it be hiking or visiting quaint towns and villages..

Fishing is available free of charge in the owners’ private pond, which has tench and crucian carp, and a ½ mile stretch of the River Derwent where you will find trout and grayling. The Peak District National Park is famous for providing glorious scenery and is a must for ramblers to the most serious walkers. We absolutely loved the cottage, the owners were lovely and very attentive. The location was perfect and their dog park is just phenomenal. The owners did everything they could to book us in - it’s always booked up so it’s brilliant but…it needs a really good clean between visitors and perhaps a refresh!

Lovely setting. Peaceful location. Walks along canal. However, unable to walk to pubs for food and drinks . Not within a mile. Short drive and also to a shop for supplies. Lovely old cottage. Fishing available on site. Very enjoyable.

We enjoyed a peaceful family break at Warren's cottage over the May bank holiday. Its location right on the canal made it easy to explore the surrounding area on foot in the evenings. All the key attractions of the Peak District were within driving distance, giving us plenty of options for day trips. After spending all day in busy tourist spots, it was especially nice to retreat to the tranquillity of our secluded cottage. Only regret is we didn't catch sight of the local badgers! Would happily come back again next time we're in the area.
