Roseville is a well-appreciated cottage in the Peak District, praised for its comfortable beds, beautiful decor, and stunning location. Guests enjoyed the thoughtful welcome pack and the hot tub, despite some maintenance issues. The property offers a good base for exploring local attractions, with nearby pubs and walks adding to the charm.
The cottage was described as clean and tidy by a reviewer, but there were mentions of a clogged hot tub filter and a shower issue. This suggests good general cleanliness with some room for improvement.
The location is highly praised for its stunning views and proximity to local amenities, traditional pubs, and walking routes. It is considered a great base for exploring the surrounding areas.
Guests found the beds extremely comfortable and the property well-maintained, contributing to a pleasant and relaxing stay. However, there were some concerns about a shower that did not drain properly.
While the property boasts a range of amenities and a hot tub, there were several maintenance issues reported, such as a non-functioning toaster and blinds that needed fixing. These are seen as minor issues that could be easily addressed.
The welcome pack was mentioned positively in multiple reviews, indicating a level of thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and may not be guaranteed for every stay.
Roseville is a charming abode resting in a wooded hillside with stunning views over the picturesque village of Cromford in Derbyshire, and is a superb, extended 18th century cottage. Packed with original features such as exposed beams and stonework it marries old with new providing a home from home steeped in history. Situated in the heart of the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, Cromford is best known for being the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, as the site of Industrialist Richard Arkwright’s first cotton mills. Even Roseville once belonged to the Arkwright family. Set over two floors and sleeping up to eight guests in 4 well-proportioned double bedrooms, Roseville is the perfect family-friendly setting for exploring the Peak District with your furry friend, with easy access to country walks such as the High Peak Trail and the Cromford Canal. Be welcomed into the well-equipped kitchen, which boasts all the mod cons you could need from a washer/dryer and dishwasher to a coffee machine that will automatically steam your milk and make a perfect latte at the touch of a button. The quaint dining area enjoys beautiful views though the large kitchen windows and is the perfect place to open a bottle of fizz and chat whilst culinary delights are being whipped up in the double oven. Retire to the lounge on an evening where you can relax under exposed beams on the large corner sofa in front of your favourite film on the 4K Smart TV, as the woodburning stove crackles nearby from the original stone fireplace. Completing this floor is a handy downstairs W.C which is ideal for a quick freshen up before setting out for the day. When sleep calls, you have a choice of four bedrooms to retire to, the first being a king-size on the ground floor and on the first floor, two further king-size rooms, one with an en-suite shower, and one double room with dual aspect views over the village. Outside you will find an abundance of seating areas in garden to the front and side of the house, just perfect for an alfresco breakfast followed by a dip in the bubbling hot tub with views of the Black Rocks. Grab your walking boots and have a wander into the village where you will find welcoming pubs, The Greyhound Hotel and The Boat Inn, independent shops and even a Tapas restaurant. Delve into history at the impressive 18th-century water-powered cotton mill, where you can embark on a guided tour and learn more about the town’s rich heritage, its role in mechanising production and how it’s ideas were copied throughout the world. The charming village of Matlock Bath is very nearby, where you can take in the scenery from the skies in an alpine-style cable car at the Heights of Abraham, tour interactive exhibits at the Peak District Mining Museum, or for the children, there is the Matlock Bath Aquarium and Arcade as well as the thrilling theme park of Gulliver’s Kingdom. Walk over to the neighbouring town of Matlock, where you can take the scenic walk up to the well-known Pic Tor War Memorial or step into the past with a ride on the Peak Rail, which uses vintage steam and diesel trains as an alternative way to see the sights. For a truly unforgettable getaway to the Peaks and Dales, look no further than Roseville.

There is not an en-suite as described it's just a shower in the room that does not drain away so could not be used due to flooding the room. The blinds were hanging off in one room, hot tub had not been cleaned sufficiently filter was clogged, shower in main bathroom has been glued in place causing flooding of the room ! Toaster didn't work. Mainly Small things that are easily fixed would make this place idyllic. Instructions to drive the mins to Sainsbury's to dispose of any glass are outdated there are no longer glass bins there !

The property is beautifully decorated and well maintained. It had all the amenities that we needed. It is a lovely space throughout. The garden are is beautiful overlooking the village and the hot tub just makes it. The Umberella going over the hot tub is a great touch, especially with the typical English weather! It is in a great location. The town has everything you need, traditional local pubs and quaint cafes. And Matlock Bath is a short drive away, or about a 25 minute walk which is great. It is a great base to explore the surrounding areas.
