The country kitchen/diner provides a sociable space for meals together, while the cosy living room, complete with a wood burner, is perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the nearby Leicestershire Wolds. The conservatory doubles as a games room, with table football and interchangeable games, and French doors opening onto the patio and garden.

Upstairs are four individually styled bedrooms: two kingsize bedrooms, one benefiting from an en-suite shower room, a single with a day bed, a double with access from one side, and a family bathroom with shower-over-bath.

Set within the rolling Leicestershire countryside, Old Dalby makes a wonderful base for discovering this often-overlooked corner of the Midlands. Close by, Six Hills offers the chance to embrace the outdoors with wild swimming and a wood-fired sauna beside its lake – a memorable way to unwind surrounded by nature. For more indulgence and relaxation the world-renowned Ragdale Hall & Spa is a mere 6 miles away.

Wine lovers can head to Wolds Wine Estate at Stanton-on-the-Wolds, where vines stretch across the Nottinghamshire countryside and visitors can discover locally produced English wines. For walkers and cyclists, the surrounding lanes, footpaths and villages provide plenty of opportunities to explore at a gentler pace.

The bustling market town of Melton Mowbray is within easy reach and is renowned for its food heritage, particularly its famous pork pies and Stilton cheese. Browse the town’s independent shops and markets or stop at one of its cafés and traditional pubs. Or for a lively family day out, head to Twin Lakes Park, a theme park geared to younger kids with rollercoasters, rides, waterpark and falconry displays.

Venture to Bradgate Park, where ancient parkland, roaming deer and the ruins of Bradgate House make for a wonderful day outdoors. Arguably the highlight however, is Belvoir Castle, with its magnificent interiors, gardens and far-reaching views, After all your adventures, return to the comfort & cosiness of White Cottage.
