About this property

The Lily Pad in Nassington offers group accommodation in the Nene Valley for family reunions, celebrations and holidays with friends. Eight self-catering units can be booked together for up to 52 guests, or individually and in smaller combinations. The cottages and apartments have flexible bedroom arrangements, with accessible ground-floor options in several units. Guests can enjoy an indoor swimming pool, generous outdoor social space and a large barbecue area, with catering or a private chef available by arrangement. Dogs are welcome, and the village pub is within walking distance. Stamford, Burghley House, Rutland Water and the Nene Valley Railway are nearby.

The Lily Pad cottages make getting a big family together a breeze. Rather than trying to find separate accommodation for multiple groups all within the same vicinity, or putting 52 people under one roof and hoping everyone keeps the same hours, this collection of eight self-catering units in Nassington can be booked in its entirety, separately or in smaller combinations. It suits milestone birthdays, reunions, extended-family holidays and groups of friends who want time together without sacrificing their own front doors. The cottages and apartments offer a range of sizes, with flexible zip-and-link bedrooms in several units and ground-floor bedrooms and wet-room-style showers in some. That makes it easier to accommodate grandparents, young families and guests with mobility requirements, although individual access arrangements should be checked before booking. For a shared meal, Lily Pad Nos 6 and 7 can each be arranged to seat up to 20; the owners can also help organise group catering or a private chef. There is a large patio and barbecue area, lawns and an indoor swimming pool, with exclusive pool sessions available by arrangement. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and the owners live on site. The Queen's Head in Nassington is within walking distance, so the village pub is part of the holiday rather than a car journey.

Nassington is a handsome stone village in the Nene Valley, with the River Nene and a network of footpaths close to the cottages. It is easy to get a group outdoors here without turning every walk into a major expedition. Follow the countryside paths to the river, explore the lanes by bicycle, or stay in the village to see historic Prebendal Manor. The Queen's Head provides a nearby option for food and drinks, and neighbouring villages have more pubs to discover, including Fotheringhay and Woodnewton. Oundle and Stamford bring independent shops, cafés, restaurants and market-town streets worth spending a few hours in. The central England location is a practical solution for families spread across the country: Nassington is close to the A1 and within reach of the A14, making a weekend reunion manageable. Back at the cottages, children can move between their own accommodation and the shared spaces, while adults can catch up without squeezing into one sitting room.

The wider area has enough variety to keep a large party occupied without forcing everyone to follow the same itinerary. Burghley House near Stamford has grand Elizabethan rooms and extensive parkland; Sacrewell Farm and the Nene Valley Railway are popular family outings. At Rutland Water, some guests can hire bikes or try watersports, while others can take a lakeside walk. Peterborough Cathedral offers a very different day, and the remains of Fotheringhay Castle bring a remarkable piece of local history close to home. There is wildlife to look for around the Nene Valley, and further options include Hamerton Zoo Park, Rockingham Castle and the shops and leisure facilities at Rushden Lakes. One family can head out early, another can spend the morning swimming, and everyone can come back for a barbecue or a celebration meal. For a group spread across generations, that welcome freedom is priceless.
