Dukes Wood is a well-regarded cottage offering a peaceful location and comfortable accommodation with a hot tub. Guests appreciate the quiet setting, cleanliness, and the homely touches like a log burner. The surrounding areas, especially Southwell, are noted for their beauty. The hosts are commended for their friendliness and responsiveness.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be clean and well-kept, with only a few mentioning issues with cobwebs and ladybirds. The hot tub is noted to be very clean.
The location is highly praised for its quietness and proximity to local towns and villages like Newark and Southwell. The scenic surroundings and peaceful setting are consistently mentioned as positives.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the room sizes generous. The presence of a log burner and the overall homeliness of the cottage contribute to a comfortable stay, although one review mentioned the hot tub being less invigorating.
Facilities are generally good, with the hot tub being a highlight. However, some maintenance issues like a missing DVD player, a leaking toilet, and a power outage are noted. Some guests suggested improvements for privacy and additional amenities.
While guests are appreciative of the host's responsiveness and the welcoming fire, there is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category.

Overall, a lovely place to stay. I was a little disappointed that the power went off half an hour before we checked out, as I had just loaded the dishwasher and my children were watching tv as I tidied and packed. Maybe consider leaving the power on until the official checkout time of 10am? Very happy that there was a teapot and the biscuits were much appreciated!
