Wishbone Barn is a characterful Lincolnshire retreat that brings together heritage architecture and considered modern comfort. Sleeping six guests across three bedrooms, this thoughtfully restored red brick and timber-clad barn offers sociable open-plan living framed by vaulted ceilings and original oak beams.
At its heart, the spacious kitchen and dining area invite long, leisurely meals, whether it’s a celebratory supper around the generous teak table or a relaxed brunch with friends. The living space balances style and comfort, with deep linen sofas and underfloor heating throughout creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere year-round. A rare and fascinating display of genuine mammoth bones, uncovered during renovation, adds a distinctive talking point to your stay.
Outside, the terrace opens onto far-reaching countryside views, with ample space for outdoor dining and evenings gathered around the fire pit. The wood-fired hot tub is a highlight, perfect for soaking beneath open skies after a day exploring the surrounding landscape.
Dog friendly and well-equipped for families or groups of friends, Wishbone Barn offers a relaxed rural escape with thoughtful design details and plenty of space to reconnect, celebrate and slow the pace.
Wishbone Barn is set on a working farm along the Lincolnshire–Nottinghamshire border, surrounded by open countryside and wide views across fields and meadowland. With plenty of space and very little passing traffic, it’s a peaceful base for guests looking to spend time outdoors and enjoy the slower pace of rural life.
Just five minutes away lies the historic city of Lincoln. Its remarkable cathedral and ancient castle dominate the skyline, with the castle grounds home to one of the original copies of the Magna Carta. Around the cathedral, the Cathedral Quarter is filled with independent shops, cafés and restaurants, along with steep cobbled streets that give the area its distinctive character.
Newark-on-Trent is also within easy reach, offering supermarkets, cafés and regular markets, as well as pleasant walks along the River Trent. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking and cycling, while Newark’s rail station provides direct connections to London and other major cities.
