Welcome to Sunnyside, a fabulous Victorian cottage set in an enviable location and only ¼ mile on foot to the beach. Sunnyside offers plenty of room for five people and space to relax. On the ground floor you will find a large entrance hallway which itself leads into the downstairs shower room. To the left you will move into an open plan living/dining room and then into a large, very light kitchen/diner, here you can open the bifold doors and enjoy the views of the garden. Upstairs you will find all three bedrooms, these consisting of two doubles and a single as well as the family bathroom. The house benefits from plenty of natural light.
Mersea Island benefits from some fantastic shops, tea rooms and pubs as well as being famous for it’s seafood and brightly coloured beach huts. Mersea Island is great for anyone who wants a break beside the sea but there is lots to keep you busy too; walking, cycling and sailing to name a few. Sunnyside is an ideal location from which to explore Mersea Island. The quaint high street is a short stroll away and you’re within easy walking distance of some family friendly pubs and restaurants as well as local shops. Cudmore Grove Country Park situated a short distance away at East Mersea and is terrific for those who prefer green open spaces and quieter spots, why not take a picnic? Should you decide to travel, only 20 minutes away and you can find yourself in the historic market town of Colchester or Maldon, both worth a visit.

A very comfortable cottage with good facilities. Off road parking which is a must for us. Beautiful enclosed good sized garden. Within easy walking distance of shops and coast.

Some issues on arrival as owner was not informed by cottage.com that they had guests arriving so place was still as when last customer left but after a quick call , the cleaners came around and turned the place around whilst we walked to theBeach. Highly appreciative of that especially as a bank holiday. The beauty of this place is you can park your car and never have to use it as tesco express is close and lots of restaurants and coffee shops in walking distance. Also the beach is a short walk as well. All places welcomed dogs. Overall very happy with the property and area it is situated in. 5 adults and 2 dogs were very happy.

We had a super, relaxing holiday at Sunnyside in March 2026. The house was clean and welcoming (tea and coffee sachets). The garden was super dog friendly for our cocker spaniel and completely safe. There was no noise from neighbours or traffic which was wonderful, only seagulls, birds and the wind. The beach was about a 10 minute walk away and the shops and cafés were all very friendly and welcoming. Some lovely places to visit on the island as well as further inland and crossing the Strood was never an issue for us, providing you check the tide times. We loved the airy and bright kitchen/family space and would definitely like to visit again in the not too distant future.
