Brook Lodge is one of five detached luxury lodges which are located in idyllic countryside on the Wakes Hall Estate in the breath-taking Colne Valley on the Essex/Suffolk border. Each lodge boasts a verandah and the ultimate indulgence – a soothing hot tub, surrounded by 500 acres of land and walks to the village of Wakes Colne.
Wakes Hall Lodges offer the ultimate place to escape the city or your hectic lives. Nature lovers will have a wonderful time taking in the stunning flora and fauna of the delightful countryside. As well as a fishing lake stocked with Carp and Roach, there are an endless number of woodland walks to explore, including the neighbouring willow woodland where the trees are farmed to make cricket bats. Visitors often enjoy a short amble to the local village where there is a shop and post office and a picturesque pub beside the River Colne that serves locally brewed beer. Local beauty salons provide a full range of services for visitors to the lodges.

We stayed in Brook Lodge. Beautiful, spacious lodge, high quality and very comfortable. Quiet setting so lovely and relaxing. We barely saw anyone! Great for the dogs, enjoyed the walks on the land surrounding the lodges. Bed large and comfortable. Hot tub was lovely and very private. Location was great as we were able to visit places in the area with the dogs - Colchester to follow the Roman walls (map online), river walk, West Mersea beach, High Woods Country Park with walking routes. Lovely welcome pack awaiting us in the lodge which was a nice touch. Hairdryer, dressing gown and slippers provided. The only slight grumble (which would in no way put us off returning) is there were several flies continuously in the lodge which were an annoyance, particularly when we were making food. Three in the bathroom on arrival and several others in the lounge. The lodge has an electric fly catcher and we also used the fly spray provided although two were immune to the spray! Being so close to woodland and water, this is to be expected and it was just a minor irritation. Would highly recommend.

What a beautiful, peaceful haven. It is the second time we have visited Brook Lodge and will not hesitate to go back. The lodge is immaculate, the setting is tranquil and private and the whole set-up is perfect if travelling with a dog. We were completely undisturbed and the hot tub is absolutely perfection- clean, clearly highly maintained and in an excellent spot. We can't wait to visit again.
