After dinner, move through to the sitting room, where plush sofas and a TV await to provide a relaxing evening after an adventure filled day, or choose a game from the selection of board games. Head up the stairs to find a well-appointed shower room, where you can wash away the day, along with two tastefully decorated bedrooms, a king-size and a single. Continue up to the second floor, which hosts a sleek bathroom, where you can freshen up with your choice of bath or overhead shower, and a a twin bedroom with stunning fell views. Wander through the village, where right next door you will find the village shop and tea room for picking up any essentials, the two delightful pubs of the Royal Oak and Coledale Inn, the welcoming Ivy House where you can treat your loved ones to a meal out, and the dog-friendly Jaspers Coffee House. Just a short drive away, you will find the popular Winlatter Forest Park, a hub of activity, with cycling tracks, Go Ape and an adventure playground, perfect for the little ones to enjoy! Braithwaite is located between Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, two beautiful lakes in the region's north. Whitewashed Lakeland cottages, quaint shops, and cosy inns dot this picturesque village on either side of the Coledale Beck, which still has much of its original charm. The Newlands Valley, which lies between Braithwaite and Buttermere, is breathtaking, and Bassenthwaite Lake is a wonderful spot. There's a wide variety of walks to choose from, from strolls in the countryside to strenuous ascents of Skiddaw. Take a boat ride around the lake or visit Mirehouse, a beautiful house and gardens with an outdoor theatre located on its beaches. Keswick, with all its sights and sounds, is conveniently close by, as are the Lake District Wildlife Park, Dodd Wood, Derwentwater, and more.

    Spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. Only thing to note is that if you have children, beware that front door opens directly on to road.

    Excellent house with everything we needed and spotlessly clean. Perfect location for nearby walks. Village has 2 great pubs and a cafe. Food at Royal Oak is great. Only 5 minutes drive to Keswick. Highly recommended. We will be back!

    Beautifully clean when I arrived and cosy too (the latter very much needed considering the very wet weather!). Lovely walks right from the door and a really handy village shop right next door complete with a lovely coffee shop, perfect after a few hours on the fells. Everything had been thought of from kitchen utensils, games, running trail maps in nearby Whinlatter to a bluetooth speaker, washing up liquid, toilet rolls and tea towels. I'd happily recommend this cottage!
