This was a perfect place to stay while we went to the Keswick Convention. Very comfortable beds, felt right at home straight away. We enjoyed the quiet location & cycling into Keswick.

Tower cottage is a reasonably sized cottage for a small family staying in the Lakes who will be spending most of their time out walking or visiting Keswick or the towns to the south. The living area is adequate and the kitchen also and well equipped. We did have a problem with the shower room, though. It is on the small side with nowhere to put a fresh change of clothes after a shower. The mirror was on the wall over the toilet making shaving rather awkward. The shower cubicle itself is too small and we kept hitting our elbows on the glass panels. We did have what I could describe as slightly spooky experiences and on the Friday night before we left, the cottage kept filling up with flies. We couldn't find where they were coming from. Every time we despatched them more would turn up! And the next morning there were still some turning up. We joked that things were getting a bit like the film The Amityville Horror. Perhaps an investigation needs to be carried out to determine why this was happening. Oh, and one more thing, I had to take two pillows off the double bed because they smelled as though they hadn't been changed after the previous occupants, they were the bottom pillows. And the vacuum cleaner needs an overhaul as it smelled strongly when switched on. Sorry to be negative, but this was our experience of the cottage. The information folders were very good and the wi-fi too.We did enjoy our stay on the whole but these details took the shine off things just a little. Except for the flies, that was really troublesome.

We had a wonderful stay at 1 tower cottage. Perfectly situated for many fells and lakes, about 30 mins drive, with Keswick, derwentwater and catbells in easy walking distance from the cottage. The beds were comfy and the shower was great, just what you need after a day of hiking. The only downside we found was the oven took ages to cook and there wasn't a baking tray, so cooking pizza was tricky. The bonus of being surrounded by so many mountains outweighed this. We would definitely stay again.
