Beech End cottage is praised for its superb location in a peaceful village, with easy access to local walks, pubs, and amenities. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms, making it a cosy base for exploring the Lake District. While some mention the need for a deep clean and minor maintenance, most found the property welcoming and functional. The cottage’s character and charm, along with its competitive pricing, make it a recommended choice for those seeking a convenient and pleasant stay in Keswick.
Several guests noted issues such as stained carpets, dust, cobwebs, and a musty smell, particularly due to pets. Some found the property clean overall, but recurring comments about the need for a deep clean and replacement of towels and pillows indicate cleanliness is below average.
The location is consistently highlighted as excellent, with easy access to walks, local pubs, a shop, and Keswick. Guests found the setting peaceful and ideal for exploring the Lake District.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with cosy bedrooms and a warm atmosphere. Some mentioned issues with the shower, pillows, and temperature, but overall comfort was rated positively.
The cottage is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and has all basic amenities. However, guests reported maintenance issues such as a temperamental shower, slow-flushing toilet, and minor appliance problems, suggesting facilities are adequate but could benefit from attention.

A superb location with nearby pubs, a very local shop and superb mountain scenery out of the windows. The shower was said to be iffy but worked powerfully for me - perhaps due to the unusually hot weather. The underside of the rubber bath mat needed a clean, there is a dodgy looking broken switch under a kitchen cupboard and the TV reception tripped out at times. Other than that the place is excellent, well-equipped and warmly recommended.

The cottage was very nice and comfortable. The kitchen was very roomy and had all the equipment we needed. Every thing was nice and clean apart from some stains on the living room carpet. We had a bit of trouble with the toilet flushing, it was quite slow. We had a really nice week there and would go again but there was one problem at the beginning of the week. When we first got there the key safe wouldn’t open even though we had put the right number in. We tried all the phone numbers we were given even the emergency one needing to speak to someone and they were all answer phones. If it hadn’t been for a man across the road coming to help us we would have been really stuck. He said it was totally jammed. Anyway he eventually put some wd40 on and got it open. We had just had a journey on 3 trains and a bus and it was the last thing we needed. I hope that the owner will find out and get it sorted as we couldn’t get hold on any one.

I last stayed at this cottage 8 years ago. I re-booked as I knew it was perfectly located to explore the mid lakes area. It was good to find the same comfortable property as last time. The price was competitive and the house has everything you will need. The minor issues are a shower which is a tad temperamental, but ok if you take your time and the neighbours didn't leave much space to park. However my car is quite large and I squeezed it in. The village is well prepared for visitors with a choice of pubs/restaurants' and cafes. The shop has all the basics. The property is recommended and we will come back again.
