Mount Pleasant in Threlkeld is a beautifully decorated and spacious cottage, highly praised for its stunning mountain views, excellent location, and comfortable layout ideal for families and groups. . Mount Pleasant is the pièce de résistance of our larger properties in the Northern Lakes. It’s got it all, location, views, south facing, the finest quality, space, garden and pub nearby. Renovated and luxuriously refurbished, including sumptuous carpets, bespoke hand-built kitchen and stunning Victorian style family bathrooms, and situated in the village of Threlkeld with views in every direction, from St John’s in the Vale and Clough Head to the front and the mighty Blencathra towering behind. Built from slate with a brown hue, mined locally and unique to Threlkeld, this impressive detached house enjoys the sun all day long and has phenomenal views from every room. There are two cracking pubs in the village, one with a restaurant and one serving bar meals. Keswick is 3 miles and access to the M6 is only 15 minutes drive. For those travelling on public transport there are regular buses from Penrith train station which drop you right outside the property, and continue in to Keswick. Lovely village with 2 pubs and several walks from the doorstep. Also easy access to Keswick or Penrith via the bus - the bus top being outside the house. Mount Pleasant itself is spacious. We were a party of 4 adults and 2 dogs. Bathrooms are fitted out well, beds were comfy. Televisions in numerous rooms and the Internet worked fine. The house was clean and warm - the heating was easy to regulate.We had a great stay however there were a few issues which might be helpful to future guests;Our main criticism was the garden was not dog secure. We had two dogs - the smaller could easily get under the 5 bar gate and the medium sized dog could easily jump the adjoining stone wall - this meant we could not leave the dogs unattended for a minute as the house is next to a road. Both these issues could be sorted easily - a ‘picket fence’ or similar, to increase the height and mesh across the gap at the bottom. The house should have more basic kitchen items in our opinion. No scissors or small frying pan, and a lack of serving dishes for example. No washing up liquid, although dish washer tablets, scourer and tea towel were provided. Finally the Information provided on how to get to the house itself isn’t easy to follow. Mount Pleasant - which does have its name high on the white gable wall is roughly 50m from the village hall and a bus stop is located outside. the house. This information would have been useful, rather than the mention of it being on a ‘no through road’ - which isn’t signposted as you approach.

Fabulous location. You will however need to pack plenty of clothes as there is no washing line for drying, only a small airer.We spent a lovely week in a most comfortable house. The numerous walks from the doorstep made this house perfect for our family.
