There are only three houses in the tiny, picturesque hamlet of Seldom Seen. Tucked away on the banks of Comb Beck adjoining the village of Thornthwaite. Oak Lea lies at the top of the hill where the road ends and the ascent of Whinlatter begins. This is a truly beautiful location in a woodland setting with Comb Beck running at the side of the property in the lower part of the garden (which is accessed via a locked gate, key available) and with stunning views towards Skiddaw.
Oak Lea is a semi-detached cottage with views from all windows, with walking and mountain biking opportunities available from the doorstep. The traditional cosy two-bedroom cottage features, a double and twin bedroom, and the bathroom includes a shower over the bath for added convenience providing comfortable accommodation for a small group or family. From Thornthwaite, visitors can explore the charming local shops, quaint cafes and Pubs in nearby Keswick For those who don’t want to drive there is an excellent bus service (X5) to Keswick The adjacent Bridal Way offers picturesque walking and mountain bike trails, The Whinlatter visitor centre is just a short walk up the Bridal Way from which there is easy access to Barf and Lord Seat. Bassenthwaite Lake is just a short stroll from Oak Lea and on the way there it is possible to see the nesting place for the Osprey.

I had a lovely time at Oak Lea. There's so much to see and do. Forest walks on the doorstep and of course beautiful lakes and mountains. The cottage was peaceful, comfortable, clean and equipped with everything you could need for an enjoyable holiday. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for letting me stay at such short notice. One of my better last minute decisions! Hope to return soon.

Beautiful house in fantastic location straight into whinlatter forest from your door. Red squirrels in your garden and lovely stream through garden. Fantastic view from house over valley to Skiddaw this is an ideal base for the Lake District and all the fantastic walks
