The Shieling is a delightful, detached bungalow standing in its own enclosed garden, within a 5-minute walk of the centre of Keswick. Refurbished in 2018, the bungalow has a fitted kitchen, and has been decorated and furnished to a good standard throughout. It is ideal for a family, offering three bedrooms, one of which is en-suite, and a family bathroom. Set quietly in a small cul-de-sac it is the ideal place to return to after a day’s sightseeing or an invigorating walk in the fells.
Keswick, renowned for its spectacular setting and surrounded by mountains, is the perfect base to enjoy a holiday in the Northern Lakes. Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, the area provides many walks to suit all abilities surrounding this beautiful town. There is much to see and do in the area, but if you do not want to venture far, stroll through the town with its many outdoor and speciality shops, friendly pubs, cafés and restaurants. Beach 22 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Very comfortable, clean and well equipped accommodation with off road parking for two cars. Set in a quiet area, close to the Catholic Church and pencil museum, but only 10 mins walk from the Main Street.

As stated in previous reviews this property needs a deep clean. There were little flies everywhere. The kitchen utensils were dirty. A Pyrex dish had dried on food. The bedroom with the en-suite smelt and the wardrobe stank. You could not put clothes in there. There were also two pairs of shorts in the draws! There is plenty of choice in Keswick don’t choose this.

We stayed here from the 16th August, unfortunately we had to leave a minimum of 1 star. The accommodation at The Shieling was extremely disappointing. On entering the property, it became obvious that there is a significant problem of damp throughout which is completely unacceptable. It could be seen clearly within the bedrooms and dining area. The wardrobes being so badly affected, we were unable to unpack our clothes despite being on a weeks holiday. The bedding and towels provided, smelt unclean and damp, we spent the first few days of our holiday washing them. The dishes and cutlery in the cupboards were dirty so also required cleaning before use. All problems of which have been ongoing with other guests noting them on reviews which we wish we had seen before booking. No one or family, should be expected to pay and stay in accommodation that is riddled in damp and smells, it was undoubtedly the worst stay we have ever experienced in Keswick.
