This was our second visit to York House. It is a spacious property, with a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of bathrooms, perfect for a large group of people. The downstairs loo is a good addition! The house is well situated for easy access to the town, the parks, the fabulous theatre and cinema. Keswick is an excellent base for exploring the Lakes. During our stay, we reported a faulty TV and issues with one of the handbasins. Someone came out to assess the issues the same day, which was a good response, however the tv could not be fixed / replaced that week.York House has a great deal of character and is a lovely property to holiday in, however it would benefit from a deep clean and a little attention.

We have stayed here before and it was tired back then but returning this time it is clear it is in serious need of updating. The top floor shower head was loose, so much so that turning on the water in it meant it sprayed all over the place. I bought a screwdriver and tightened the bolt to the head holder which solved it. The toilet flush for the top bathroom and middle ensuite bathroom sound like an aeroplane landing, it will keep you up all night if people go to the toilet in the middle of the night. The two tvs downstairs werent tuned in to any channels, so couldnt watch anythgin on TV at night time, the tumble dryer didnt appear to be workin when we tried to turn it on. One of the dining room chairs seat wasnt attached to the frame so was a health and safety issue. The two middle bathroom shower trays were filling up after a few minutes and werent draining away very well. The back and front gardens have weeds growing everywhere. We knew it was a dated house from our last visit, but this time it was very obvious no money has been spent on this place in years, which is unfortunate because our last stay here was so much more positive
