Avid historians will delight in a visit to the nearby town of Penrith where tourists can step back in time with a tour of the Penrith and Eden Museum, or explore the 14th-century ruins of Penrith Castle, once home to Richard III. Spend lazy afternoons strolling along the banks of the River Eamont towards the glistening waters of lake Ullswater, where thrill-seekers can embark on a watersport adventure with expert tuition available at Ullswater Wake and Surf, or for a more peaceful experience, hire a boat and enjoy a solace float as you watch the world go by. Catch the Ullswater Steamer and cruise across the lake to the former mining village of Glenridding, popular with hikers looking to reach the summit of Helvellyn, the third-highest peak in England. Embark on a Cumbrian adventure with a memorable retreat to Paperback Writer.

Pooley Bridge is a small village on the north shore of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park, taking its name from a large pool left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word a 250 year old bridge built over it. The village offers all of the essentials, including many traditional inns and tea rooms, as well as a convenience store stocking essentials. The Ullswater Steamers depart from the lake, offering a relaxing cruise to Glenridding and Howtown, whilst a short walk up Dunmallard Hill reveals fascinating Iron-Age remains.

Roomy kitchen diner, two bathrooms very useful. Cosy, comfortable and quiet. No garden but not needed at this time of year. Parking a little way down the road but could drop off or pick up nearby if not too many other visitors filling the roadside. Village shop very close, very tempting bookshop with teas below flat.

Very clean, spacious with lovely bath and shower. The stay really was perfect. One very minor point, as others have said is a bigger tv would be better but we would still mark this 10/10. Thank you to everyone involved.

We had to barricade the staircase. Otherwise everything was perfect and we will be booking again maybe as early as January when we can book. We looked but your next year bookings werent available.
