The National Trust operates the elegant Steam Yacht Gondola on Coniston Water and this beautifully-restored steam-powered yacht once provided the wealthy Victorians with a form of luxury travel along the third largest lake in Cumbria. The popular and vibrant village of Ambleside is a short drive away and offers visitors a wide selection of shops and eateries, local galleries and the Armitt Museum, a small museum dedicated to the cultural heritage of the Lake District.
