The Writing Room in HAWKSHEAD is a well-regarded holiday rental with spacious and comfortable accommodations, boasting excellent views and a beautiful location. Guests appreciate the well-maintained gardens, the proximity to local amenities, and the overall peacefulness of the property. While some guests have noted issues with maintenance and cleanliness, the majority have had positive experiences, highlighting the property's charm and character.
Most guests found the property to be clean and well-presented upon arrival. However, there were a few reports of cleanliness issues such as food splashes and dust, which slightly affected the overall impression.
The location is highly praised for its stunning views, tranquil setting, and easy access to local attractions and walks. The proximity to a local pub and the ferry to Bowness is frequently mentioned as a positive aspect.
Guests generally find the sofas and beds very comfortable, and the central heating is appreciated. Some guests, however, mentioned issues with a lumpy duvet and flat pillows, suggesting room for improvement in this area.
The property offers a range of facilities including a well-equipped kitchen and modernised bathrooms. However, there are comments about steep stairs, maintenance issues, and the need for clearer instructions for the fireplace, indicating that some facilities could be enhanced.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess the thoughtfulness of the property based on the available information.

The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! We have stayed here many times and love it. There is excellent walking from the door and a few minutes from the ferry if you want to visit some of the busier parts of the lake district.

As two separate households we appreciated two car parking spaces. There are some maintenance issues: the bedroom doors don't close properly and the ensuites both look tired. The bedding in the master bedroom was ripped and the toilet seat in that ensuite didn't stay up. The WiFi just doesn't work - there is an error code on the password. We didn't let any of this spoil our holiday but we wouldn't visit this property again.
