About this property

This semi-detached cottage sits in a charming position with great views within Ambleside, just a short walk from a range of amenities. Delightfully presented over two floors, 8 Oaks Fields provides a welcoming escape for up to six guests, with easy access to the delights of Ambleside. Enter on the first-floor, stepping into the kitchen/diner where the house chef can rustle up a hearty feast, utilising the electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and even the dishwasher, so you won’t have to lift a finger when cleaning up! Move into the lounge, where you can put your feet up on the sofa and tune into the TV, thinking about the adventures to come. As you look to catch your rest, choose between three neatly presented bedrooms; on the first floor lies a double and twin, serviced by a gleaming bathroom where you can begin your morning routine, or choose the ground-floor twin, ideal for those with limited mobility. Step outside and relish in the garden patio, perching on the bistro table and chairs, taking in the idyllic surroundings. Wander into Ambleside’s town centre, where you can browse the shops, enjoy a meal at one of the excellent restaurants, or indulge in an afternoon treat at a café or tearoom before continuing your exploring. From Ambleside, follow the river up to the stunning Stock Ghyll Force, a 70-foot waterfall with a scenic viewing bridge, before taking off a ramble to Wansfell Pike. Step onboard the Windermere steamer, taking you down to the bustling town of Bowness-on-Windermere, where you can visit the Lakes Aquarium in Lakeside before tailing back around and discovering the unbeatable views of the wooded landscapes. Choose 8 Oaks Fields for a memorable escape to the Lakelands.

Ambleside, which is located at the northernmost point of Lake Windermere, is a great starting point from which to explore the middle Lakes. Grasmere and the Langdale Valley are also close by. There is a lot to do here, including boat tours, cruises, and water sports on Lake Windermere itself, as well as a wide variety of stores, eateries, and pubs in the hamlet to satisfy every taste. A little strip of beach and wonderful lake views can be found in the parkland at Waterhead, while a trek through the woods along Stock Ghyll will lead you to the captivating cascade of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the fantastic hiking opportunities, Ambleside is well-known for its yearly rushbearing ritual and the modest 17th-century "Bridge House," which is now the National Trust Information Center and one of the Lake District's most popular photo subjects.

The room felt damp so I had to try and put heating on ( tricky) . Extractor fans would be good . Area is handy and quiet. No real outside space ( no problem when weather mixed when we were there). We would stay again now we know the house quirks .

Our decision to choose your house was mainly based on cost and parking. We were impressed with how neat, tidy and clean and comfortable it was. Great views and very peaceful. Loved the layout and spacious rooms, and only a short walk into town. I think the published pictures don't do the property justice, but I wasn't worried as having lived in Ambleside for a number of years and been inside properties throughout the town, I think the more modern properties and this area are very underrated, and have a lot of advantages over the older more traditional style properties lower down in the town.
