Hazeldene is a well-received cottage in Ambleside, praised for its prime location, plush bathrooms, and comfortable beds. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, cleanliness, and family-friendly amenities, including games. Some minor issues with maintenance and sofa space were noted, but overall, guests are keen to return and recommend the property.
Most guests found Hazeldene clean and well-presented, contributing to a pleasant stay. However, a few mentioned issues with grubby sofas, cobwebs, and an overflowing bin, slightly affecting the overall impression of cleanliness.
The cottage's central location in Ambleside is highly praised, with guests appreciating the proximity to shops, cafes, and local attractions. The convenience of not needing to drive is a recurring positive point.
Guests generally found the property comfortable, with special mentions of a luxurious kingsize bed and well-equipped bathrooms. However, some noted that the living room seating was insufficient for the number of guests the cottage can accommodate.
The property is celebrated for its well-stocked kitchen and additional features like a games room. Nonetheless, guests suggested improvements in maintenance, such as replacing broken glasses and providing more than one key.
While the reviews reflect a positive experience with the property's amenities and provisions, there is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category.

This holiday home is also within distance of The World of Beatrix Potter, a popular children’s attraction which showcases the author’s tales in an interactive guided tour, plus there is Dove Cottage in Grasmere to visit – the former family home of William Wordsworth where he wrote the majority of his much-loved poems. With attractions to suit all ages and tastes, a stay at Hazeldene has great potential for a superb holiday.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

In an great location for central Ambleside with local shops (Budgen, Coop, Tesco, just round the corner). The house was comfortable. A bit more light in the dining area would have helped but otherwise no negative comments. We were blessed with fine weather so didn't really use the games room cellar, but it was an excellent add on that would have been useful in poor weather.

Well thought out for families with toys and games that our children appreciated. We loved the kitchen, it was a real hub for our family. It was also very helpful to have a loo on each floor too. Thank you!
