Guests say

Heatherley is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in the heart of Ambleside, offering easy access to local amenities and the beauty of the Lake District. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, ample bathrooms, and the convenience of parking permits. While some guests have noted areas for improvement, the property's prime location and overall comfort make it a popular choice for families and groups.

Guests have reported that Heatherley is generally well-maintained, though some have noted issues with cleanliness in specific areas such as under furniture, bathrooms, and kitchen utensils. The feedback suggests room for improvement in ensuring a consistently high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.

The cottage's central location in Ambleside is highly praised by guests for its convenience to shops, restaurants, and local attractions. The ease of parking with provided permits adds to the appeal, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District.

The property is commended for its comfortable beds and spacious layout, accommodating large groups and families with ease. Some guests have suggested additional keys and better garden furniture to enhance comfort during their stay.

Heatherley is well-equipped with modern bathrooms, smart TVs, and a well-appointed kitchen. However, guests have mentioned maintenance issues such as broken appliances and a lack of basic supplies upon arrival. An information pack with instructions and local tips would be beneficial.

While some guests have suggested that the inclusion of welcome gifts and additional amenities such as hand soap would be appreciated, there is insufficient information to determine if such gestures are customary at this property. Therefore, a score cannot be provided for thoughtfulness.

About this property

Heatherley is a substantial, end-of-terrace property which has been renovated to a quality standard and sits within a peaceful residential area close to the centre of Ambleside. With four bedrooms and bathrooms, the property is designed to provide comfortable accommodation for groups of families and friends looking to stay within one of the most desirable holiday locations in the UK. After a day of rambling the fells, put away your boots and coats in the hallway and head to the sitting area, complete with two sofas and armchairs, dual aspect windows, a woodburning stove and wall-mounted TV to entertain. Gather at the wooden dining table, whether for home-cooked meals or a board game brought from home. Move to the rear of the property to discover the superbly appointed kitchen, complete with a range cooker and plenty of worktop space, plus all the crockery and utensils you could need for a self-catered stay. As the evening draws to a close, retire to one of the four bedrooms, each one containing plush beds draped in gorgeous linens and home to plenty of storage for your things. On the first floor is the master king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room and a twin room served by a contemporary bathroom, while the second floor offers a similar setup with a king-size bedroom with en-suite shower and a twin room, both of which feature unique sloped roofing. Spend a moment outside at the rear patio, offering a great space for evening drinks or alfresco dining, or head to one of the many eateries in Ambleside, including an award-winning Michelin starred restaurant. Resting just outside Ambleside you will find Brockhole Visitors Centre where you can enjoy treetop treks, mini golf, archery and some delightful walks around the extensive gardens designed by British gardener Thomas Mawson. Beatrix Potter’s former home, the National Trust’s Hill Top, rests close by in Hawkshead and is a quaint farmhouse still filled with the writer’s furnishings and favourite things, almost as though she had just stepped out for a walk; it’s a fantastic place to visit for any fans of her children’s books. Heatherley is an individual holiday home with its own style and character, perfect for a getaway whatever time of year.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

This must have already been reported as maintenance had turned up to fix them. However he was unable to do this and said he would return in Tuesday he never did. The floor on the kitchen was dirty by the step leading down into the kitchen hadn’t been brushed or washed properly. The living room hadn’t been hoovered properly I found toe nails on the floor. The parking permit had expired which I had reported. This was such an inconvenience as we had to continuously move the car. We had left the car parked outside the property overnight and received a parking ticket which we paid £25. I raised it with yourselves had made 3 phone calls also sent a copy of the ticket to yourselves. I am still waiting for a refund nearly 4 weeks on. I was told you are trying to get hold of the owner and would forward the ticket which is absolutely no use to me, my contract is with yourselves not the owner. I would be grateful if you could please forward the refund.

Following other reviews I did enquire about hand soap in bathrooms and kitchen and despite being reassured there would be some there wasn't. The microwave still needs repairing. Other than that was perfect, comfy beds, loads of space, location right round the corner from heart of Ambleside and we found parking easy with permit. We would definitely book it again.
