Lingmoor View is a well-received cottage, praised for its stunning views, excellent location for walking, and comfortable, well-equipped interiors. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, the thoughtful touches, and the property's suitability as a base for exploring the area. Some minor issues with maintenance and facilities were noted, but overall, guests report a delightful stay and many express a desire to return.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be spotlessly clean and well-maintained, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, a few guests encountered issues with cleanliness, such as dirty utensils and furniture, which slightly lowers the score.
The location is highly praised for its stunning views and proximity to walking paths and local amenities. The steep access road was a concern for some, but overall, the location is considered excellent.
Guests consistently report a comfortable experience, with a warm, cosy atmosphere and comfortable beds. The presence of a second bedroom with height restrictions and some issues with heating controls are minor detractors.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and good appliances. Some guests experienced difficulties with the tumble dryer and heating, and there were comments about the lack of outdoor dining furniture, which affects the score.
While guests mention the well-equipped nature of the cottage and the provision of amenities, there are no specific references to gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, a score cannot be given for this category.
Lingmoor View is a pleasant duplex, two-bedroom holiday home, sitting in an elevated position at the heart of the picturesque village of Chapel Stile and its amenities. The cottage is perfectly placed to enjoy spectacular and idyllic trails from the doorstep and some of the most acclaimed Lakeland mountain walks lie just three miles up the valley. It is an ideal holiday retreat for a family or two couples.
Walk into the porch, store your outdoor gear and step into your bright and spacious open plan sitting room with dining and kitchen areas and enjoy the natural light flooding into this welcoming space. Go through the patio doors to your shared garden area and take in the breath-taking views to the Langdale fells. Find a double bedroom at ground level, with king size bed, TV and en-suite shower room. Climb the stairs to your twin bedroom, TV and lovely views from the Velux windows. You will find your family bathroom on this floor with bath and shower cubicle.
Head out on foot to experience spectacular walking trails or take the bus though the beautiful Langdale Valley to Dungeon Ghyll, to walk some of the most acclaimed trails in the National Park. For a more relaxing day explore the village and its surrounding area, before having breakfast at Bramble’s café and stocking up at the local store. Or, visit the well-loved Wainrights Inn for lunch, a stone’s throw from the village centre, then take the scenic path along the river to the pretty hamlet of Elterwater.
At the end of your day take a drink onto your terrace in the shared garden and gaze at the panoramic views.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

The double had dips both sides and I had to turn it around on the frame to make it slightly better, please replace this. Otherwise would love to stay again but unfortunately canât as the cottage no longer accepts dogs.

This was probably the cleanest, best equipped and most comfortable cottage I have stayed in. The location is excellent with very easy access to paths to the surrounding valley and fells.
