About this property

This comfortable, modern holiday home is perfectly situated for groups looking to combine the solitude of Lake Windermere and surrounding countryside with the hustle and bustle of village life. Lingmoor is an extremely comfortable home-from-home, with generous living space complimented by both a balcony and rear patio garden, perfect for al-fresco dining.

With plenty of room for storing walking boots and outdoor clothing, the entrance hall leads to a handy ground floor shower room and wc. Up just a few steps is the lovely bright living space with French windows leading out to the pretty patio garden and access on to the sunny terrace. Deep cushioned leather sofas are clustered around a cosy wood burning stove, making this the perfect place to relax after a delicious supper prepared in Lingmoor’s large and well-equipped kitchen.

The three striking bedrooms are situated on the second floor of this charming property. The master bedroom with king size bed, a double and a twin. An immaculate house bathroom is also on this floor, a lovely room with shower over the bath.

Bowness itself is a lively village, bursting with interesting shops, cafés and a great choice of restaurants. The famous ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ is only a short walk from Lingmoor, and the lake has so much to offer. Windermere Lake Cruises cross regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside where guests can visit the Lakes Aquarium or take a trip on the fascinating Lakeside & Haverthwaite railway. There’s no better place to occupy children from nought to ninety nine.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Old Laundry theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is less than two miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There are also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and “Go-Ape” adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.

The property was exactly as described and could not fault it.

The house itself is brilliant. Clean, beautifully decorated and really comfortable and homely, as well as having a fully decked out kitchen and everything you need when you’re away with your family and self catering. We also really liked the extras of books, films and games. The location is spot on - a stone’s throw from Lake Windermere and the buzzing town of Bowness but it is also set back from the town so is quiet and peaceful when you are at the house. We would definitely stay again and the property really did help us to have an amazing week in the Lakes.
