Moss Side Farm Cottage is a charming, characterful farmhouse set in a beautiful, tranquil location ideal for families, walkers, and dog owners. Guests consistently praise the friendly and welcoming hosts, the relaxing hot tub, and the unique experience of staying on a working farm with animals. The cottage offers a cosy, rustic atmosphere with spacious rooms and lovely views. While most guests found it clean and comfortable, a few noted minor maintenance and cleanliness issues. Overall, the property provides a memorable and enjoyable Lake District getaway with plenty of positive feedback.
Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, with several specifically mentioning its cleanliness on arrival. However, a small number of reviews reported issues such as damp, mice, or lingering smells, which slightly lowers the score.
The location is widely praised for its stunning views, peaceful setting, and proximity to walks and local attractions. A few guests mentioned the presence of a nearby campsite, but this did not detract significantly from the overall positive impression.
Guests frequently describe the cottage as cosy, spacious, and homely, with comfortable beds and living areas. Some minor issues were noted with kitchen space and window fittings, but these were outweighed by the overall comfort and atmosphere.
The hot tub is a standout feature, often highlighted as a highlight of the stay. The cottage is well-equipped for families and dog owners, though a few guests mentioned older appliances and limited kitchenware. Maintenance issues were rare but noted by some.
Many guests appreciated the friendly, helpful hosts and occasional thoughtful touches such as free eggs, logs, and prompt assistance. However, as these gestures are not guaranteed for every stay, future guests should not expect them as standard.

Bedrooms all spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was ok, with no bench workspace for 8 people, but I managed and appreciate the age of the building.

The cottage was wonderfully warm too, and we enjoyed having beautiful walks right from the front door. The spa was really something and kept so clean. We did have an issue with the cooker on arrival, but it was sorted the following day. As mentioned in the listing, it is a working farm; however, there were more dogs onsite than weâd expected (around six). Because our two are anxious, the extra noise was a bit challenging at times. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay and loved meandering around the area.

The house is absolutely beautiful and we would definitely book again. Louise was so kind and welcomingâ bedrooms all cosyâ hot tub outside the back doorâ plenty of board games to play with a glass of wine in-front of the wood burning stove! Just what we wanted from a November get away with family! Beautiful location also with walks on the doorstep. Kids loved watching the farms comings and goingsâ seeing all the animals and giving the farm dogs a cheeky treat. This stay ticked all the boxes for us. Thankyou
